Congrats on the splash Bunker. Really looks good. Make sure the Captain completes the ships log. Part of the duties, ya know.

Congratulations Everything looks great. Have you been demoted to navigator. The pilot looks serious about things.

Boat looks amazing. I've got me one of them there 4 yr old co-pilots also :) You're going to constantly get compliments on that boat. I get them on mine and it doesn't look nearly as nice as yours.

Re: 1973 Super Sport...I bought it!

Thanks everyone!

Getting ready for round two tomorrow. Taking my wife and boys, my mom, sister and niece for a quick trip to the lake tomorrow. I just finished repacking and replacing the outer seal on the other trailer bearing. And I have been working on getting the shift cable adjusted. Reverse is still a little hit or miss so I ordered a new cable. I might have to put it in reverse manually, but it seems to be engaging as of now.

I will post pics on Monday.

I hope all of you out east are weathering the storm safely! Be careful!

I had, and still am some trouble with my Starcraft and reverse. It's better than an old wooden boaat I had in the 70's and 80's, the shifting shaft separated at a campsite about 10 miles from the dock, and I only had reverse. Make sure that screw is tight when you put the bottom end back on the engine.

Days 2 and 3 were sucessful on all acounts...except for troubles with reverse which were expected. My new cable should be here any day now. Even that ugly trailer is doing good. We had a tow of almost 400 miles, round trip. Anyways, she is proving to be a trusty and capable boat, even with four adults, three kids and a load of drinks and food. The weather was great, the water was calm, and we got to stretch out the legs of the old girl and let her run. The old Merc is running great both at idle poking around and the full throttle blasts fully loaded. The 15p prop helps I think. My speedo isn't hooked up and I have no GPS, but I am guessing she is running 30-35mph. I just need to verify that. I am really pleased with the boat and kind of surprised at how well it is working. Well here are some more pictures.

Wow, the SS looks great nice work Bunker:)

That paint scheme is perfect, and the older style rub rails give her some class.:D

The boat does look to be a bit low in the bow when on the trailer.

Looks like the back bunks could be lowered maybe?

Glad the motor likes to run, that reservoir looks like an excellent place to take a Starcraft, beautiful body of water:D

Looking good! Yep, you won't find an easier boat to trailer, run, and own than a tin starcraft.

You should be seeing some more speed though. I'm turning a 17P with my 90 and getting very close to 40MPH (GPS)

Beautiful boat, beautiful family, and some nice scenery too. That does seem like quite a ways to go for water tho. Maybe I'm just spoiled.

Huron, you are right on. It is a little low on the bow. I have some minor adjusting to do.

Yup EZ, this thing is so easy to get on and off the trailer! That is the only reason I havn't readjusted the bunks.

Heyyou...I am looking at two hours in any direction to get to some good water. So yup you are spoiled!

Thanks everyone! I should have bought an old boat years ago...

Bunker I was looking over your thread, great job, love the paint work. And your doing a fantastic job fighting the little issues, keep it up.

Before you know it you will end up with MBS like most of the rest of us.

Beats the heck out of renting a POS pontoon anyday. Way to go:D

Re: 1973 Super Sport...I bought it!

Thanks 64...

I am going to try to get out on the water a few more times before I retire for the winter.
Then it's time to strip and repaint the topside and splash well the same blue. I am excited to get started on that too, but am holding out for now. I already have the paint and after sanding and prepping the entire hull, I should make short work of it.

I have really enjoyed being in the water and we are already talking about Lake Powell next
summer!

landing the boat...does this ever get less terrifying? It is always scary crossing that line when there is no turning back and you are committed to that trailer! I am getting good at doing this solo though.

sorry I am a bit picture happy

being part of the Starmada means never having to say you're sorry, at least for that. pride is not a deadly sin when it has to do with a boat you've restored from the metal up!

I use my 30lb thrust Minn Kota to drive it onto the trailer, it's a bit less stressful when there's no dock:)

Some great photos of the Starcraft at the desert lake. Glad you are enjoying the rig.:D
