Re: 1974 Bayliner Discovery 1850 Restore
Got the new parts ordered through CarQuest. Comes to 66.24 for the pistons, and 6.61 for wrist pin bushings. Roughly 300 bucks after tax. Right about what i paid for the wrong pistons alone.
I will have the machine shop remove the newly installed cam bearings

, hot tank the block to get rid of the rust that has started to accumulate from it sitting, than they will bore the cylinders 30 over to the pistons, wash, install new cam bearings, and attach the pistons to the rods with new bushings. Than it all comes back to me.I do not think i will be balancing the crankshaft because i only had it polished. I will be doing standard Rod and main bearings.
Once all of that is complete i gotta pay that bill and bring it home and hopefully assemble the bottom end of it.and hopefully the top end that way i can get it oiled so it will not rust.
In the meantime i am going to take the paint off of the oil pan, and prep the oilpan, the timing cover, the valve cover and the engine arrester for paint or polishing. Still working on deciding whether the valve cover and timing cover can be polished or should i just paint them.
