Re: 1975 Starcraft 140 Evinrude OB -- Restoration IN PROGRESS FINALLY

Ain't this weather the pits, RR? And still not enough tho fill up Lanier. I guess the clams or mussels in Florida are happy. I think it's time for some night-time fishing after the pop-ups finish, too dang hot during the day and the T-storms wafting by. NO MORE 100s! Please.

Just looked at the radar and it looks like you have some coming your way now, may or may not get you wet.

thanks GA I agree with you

the ironic thing is if i do not go out to work on the boat at all, the rain we should get never comes, but it never fails, it was supposed to be clear on week and about an hour after setting up and just getting started the skies opened up. if i sit and wait cuz it looks like it is going to pour, nothing happens, if i get up after waiting and set up, it pours  i m begining to think i am being informed of something i have not listed to

Re: 1975 Starcraft 140 Evinrude OB -- Restoration IN PROGRESS FINALLY

OK, so about 2-3 weeks ago one of my sons went camping at the lake and guess what he found..... Even through all my searching for Starcraft items i have never seen one of these. someone will be a little upset they lost it. He found it floating in the water at the edge with a few lonely ice cubes left in it and empty other than that. He saw it as they were leaving that sunday night and said hey pops would like this if no one comes to get.

Notice the LOGO

100_0710.jpg

and the inside...... IT IS A DROP IN STARCRAFT COOLER

100_0711.jpg

notice the side supports

Sorry to the guy that lost it :( ..... now i have to find a way to incorporate it into the ole girl.

Cool, wish i knew how much it went for, just curious... Well if i cannot find a way to incorporate it in as a drop in, maybe a slide in and if not then maybe we can raffle it off to a good cause...... will have to see. now have to figure it how to incorporate it

Re: 1975 Starcraft 140 Evinrude OB -- Restoration IN PROGRESS FINALLY

So despite the messed up weather...... did not get to the epoxy so i decided to use gorrilla glue to join the 11ft long pieces and screw the heck out of it. had to measure several times as something was not looking right and then i found it, i was an inch to high and had i glued it in place as i was about to it would have been a pain to try and cut that inch off the back support.

proof photos

Side panels cut out

the glue and screw part

The floor supports for the panels, i can never stop myself from over spraying the self etching primer, i always want to do a full coverage

Re: 1975 Starcraft 140 Evinrude OB -- Restoration IN PROGRESS FINALLY

U have 1 min to get a second for $15

I guess it didn't sell at $25, re-listed for $15 & still no takers:confused: Someone did post it when it was $25 somewhere @ the SC threads. That's how I knew it was on ebay.

Liked it, if I had somewhere I thought I could secure it in the Jet or the other, I might have bid. But I didn't see where I'd put it......

Re: 1975 Starcraft 140 Evinrude OB -- Restoration IN PROGRESS FINALLY

not sure how i missed this but the fore most support had some badly chewed, soft and deteriorated ends

the whole piece

100_0729.jpg

not to bad on this one end

100_0728.jpg

and the really bad piece that makes you wonder ARE YOU BLIND??? to have missed this

100_0725.jpg

so tomorrow that one will get cut and replaced with a piece of southern yellow pine that i happen to have from messing up the first one i tried to do on the front support that will be the clean looking console/dash, kind of like the way AZLO does. I like the that clean and simple look.

Msg the seller an offer, they may send you a best offer & sell it. Bought the TNT for my '71 650 Merc that way.

Nice find (I do mean find) on the cooler. Looks almost brand new inside. You have the kiddos trained well.

Good looking out for Pop's...super cool find on that Starcraft cooler...

I am sure you will find just the right spot for the new addition...

As far as rain...is it coming or is it not...yeah, down here we battle the same battles...bright and sunny now, get set up to do some boat stuff...starts to cloud up, run, put everything away, sky starts to open up...stops, then stays nice and cloudy all day, actually cools down a bit, but by that time, I'm done...'cause I just know, as soon as I get everything set up again, it'll rain...

Glad to see you can at least make some progress in the garage...as we learn in this crazy endeavor of restoring our boats...some progress, any progress, IS progress...

Really cool(er) find. It'll be a much better story you'll be able to tell as time goes on than if you just went out and bought one.

Sea ya...

Hey RR,

been some time since I checked things out. Deck looks great! Lots of progress dood!

Killer score on the Starcraft cooler!

After my Imperial is finished, I'm looking at doing an 18' or 20' Mariner... I gotta do a tinny!

Yeah it sure seems to come down at the worst times and right now i will take all the little bit i can squeeze in. I came up with a plan for the cooler yesterday while sweating half the water out of my body. I do believe i will be mounting it under the splash well right above the bilge access, but on slides/rollers like for drawers so it is out of the way yet useable.

Yep, how this cooler came stumbling in off the lake, exhausted, tired, beat from the heat and needed some tinny and ice to cool it down ;)

thanks for the stop in Bear. I loved your Cobalt and the additions you did to her and was sad when she left you, but now that leaves a tinny in your future. Cobalts, even the older ones are nice rigs. i have been trying to find one of those myself but the admiral is making me wait until i get rid of 1 or 2 of the ones i have before i can even start to look for one.... :(
