Looking good. Epoxy hates UV exposure so that could have been a part of your issues.

Though shalt not paint an Evinrude black. Very dark blue is permissible, black is not.

think up in the bow storage area i am going to glue the carpet to the hull to prevent things from falling into the bilge. not sure just yet but i kind of like the way it looks
Hi rrumba, Nice progress. Just a suggestion: I would definitely carpet the hull under the foredeck, BUT, before you do, put some thin aluminum sheet (rolled vent duct) between the carpet and the hull. I didn't when I did my Holiday and just replaced the Nautolex the same way Starcraft did it originally. That area now has the only wrinkles there are on mine. Furthermore, getting the carpet to glue on just the high points if you don't add any sheet aluminum will leave voids that could be torn by an anchor or water ski. - Grandad

thanks for the fly by Jas....... Yeah i was not sure about putting the carpet down but now that it is in it will be much more comfortable on the ole dogs especially the yung uns..... and it does look better than the porch paint.

Yeah i kinda have to agree with you on that, but i have to live with the admiral on it just like repainting the top side of the hull again . maybe i can convince her on a very dark blue that almost looks like black.... i hope

Thanks for the input there grandad. did not think about that but now that you mention it i do have some street signs that are laying around waiting for a repurpose and that just may be a good job for them, or at least the foremost bow section, the triangular piece, and see about some ac vent ducting straightened and rolled flat to take out the creases.

when i put my carpet down I used a piece of 3" pipe to roll/push/stretch the carpet some and set the it in the glue which really helped to take out the wrinkles and creases. Got a good deal on the carpet as it was clearance at the depot and it was .25 a square ft.

------------

well thankfully the rain that came last night was only a drizzle and stopped, but it did force me to have to put a tarp over it in frantic hurry....... grrr

Hey rr,
Finally got 'round to catchin up on your progress, and er, ah regress, of sorts...

Love the "franzinator moisture separator"...

Bummer on the epoxy and ply, but at least you found a void you would have never found otherwise and wondered..."What is that soft spot...?"

The carpet is looking awesome...and I like the color scheme...although I would have to agree with EZ's comment on not painting the 'Rude black...it might get mistaken for a Merc...:p:D

Keep up the great work...

RR- The Holiday is looking good. I wonder if the sun did the number on the ply. Don't just paint the 'Rude black. Go to the Merc dealer and grab some Phantom Black. Adds about 25 horsepower! Try it.

rrumba, If the street signs don't work out, HD sells thin sheet aluminum that's fairly inexpensive. - Grandad

Well shoots, if the pahntom adds 25 more hp, what if i did the phantom with rude blue stripes and add the 7 from HERE that should gain at least another 50 to boot.

Got a little side tracked, honey-doed, kid attacked and have been building a chicken tractor  i know, not really a boat thingy but it will keep them sidetracked while i try to finish up the boat :D or that is the plan anyway

Tractor Supply here sells some small sheets of Aluminum, both flat & diamond tread plate. And they have a 25%off sale on Valspar paints. Good for tin & glass alike:)

That "7" might overload the lower unit - be careful. OK, I'll bite. What is a chicken tractor?

It is a portable chicken coop on wheels to roll around your yard and have fresh eggs

Thanks for the chicken tractor pic. It's only a double-wide for peeps. LOL You might find someone to visit but check out CL before you go. We have a hard time finding SCs here in GA cause MI residents hoard them. Even Jason had to settle for a Sea Nymph for his tinny addiction. ;)

There are some pretty cool guys in the greater Detroit area. Go any further north than Flint and you start getting into wierdoville. Midland is thick with em!

In a sea of sameness, how about a little something slightly different: bomb-proof tinny:D

well another tinny of a different feather...

now that the chicken tractor is done and has some fowl in them i was able to get some more work done on the tinny.

side panels are cut, vinyl has showed up at the door, bow plate support is apart, new dash console is cut and ready, need to fix some places on the other straggler tin pieces so i can paint them this weekend. doing the epoxy thing today and gluing and screwing of the side panels as well so hopefully i will have a lot more to put on her before the weekend is over. Also have to rebuild the TNT for the motor.

Good luck getting thru the heat this weekend in GA. Oppressive is the only word I can think of.... To hot to think too much. And I spent 4 years working outside & in under construction (no A/C) buildings in Las Vegas:facepalm:

oppressive is an understatement........... i was working outside on it yesterday at 7pm or so and within the first 10 minutes my shirt was soaked. well at least the heat does allow for things to move forward it's the rain that halts it all. the worst is when it rains for awhile and then the temp shoots up, nice and humid...
