Re: 1976 Arrowglass transom replacement and then some

Thanks Wood. Means alot.

I have questions. For future reference, I must finish all lay-ups with resin that has wax in it. Is this correct?

I was reading through the stickies and thats what I interpreted. To make the lay-ups officially water proof, resin must have wax?

Re: 1976 Arrowglass transom replacement and then some

Thanks alot guys. My work is nothing compared to ya'lls work. I use a jigsaw to cut most everything and the block planner does a great job of getting the humps and the angled cuts out. Jigsaws are great but you'll never get a flush cut. Also I under cut then "fine tune" with a planner or sander.

I was hope'n to get the middle stringers bedded in today. It was either mow the lawn today and do the stringers tomarrow or nice versa. I chose the lawn today. Storms from the hurricane should be hitting Friday.

Update tomarrow with a little bit of hillbilly ingenuity as Turtle Man would say.:D

Here are some pics from the hot hot part of the summer. Thought I'd post because pics are fun. I enjoy them anyway.

Have to say, Prayers go out to the people in the deep South.

I had the biggest boat and the littlest truck in all the camp site I think.

Great looking pix. Your son has out sized my largest bass this year . In fact, my Admiral is 2nd behind him...... Oh well, catching is more fun then fishing so I'll take what we've caught....

BTW: What river/camp:

Thank you.

Nice looking spots. Been to both several times, but it was many harvests/moons ago... Cumberland, Rough River, Taylorsville & Dale Hollow were the last few trips in Ky I took. Cumberland was the most frequent, by a significant amount. Land Between the Lakes in SW Ky too, but much further back then Nolan

I'm trying to cook up a tin boat trip to Cave Run (1/2 way between me & dad in Louisville) this fall. Headed to the beach end of Sept for a week, hope to nail it down while we're fishing the intercoastal in NC ;)

Some of my favorite memories involve seeing the mist rise off the water in the early am while the water was glass smooth, before most of the marina got up & moving. Felt kind of like we were creeping away under cover of fog.... All those fantastic memories are from boating & skiing in Ky :)

I haven't been to Taylorsville or Dalehollow yet. We have looked at the info on Cave Run, that will be in our near future also.:D

Out of the big lakes like LBL and Cumberland, any other lake we've been to around here for that matter, we just absolutely LOVE Nolin. We stayed during the week. Its was like we owned the place. Clean, green tinted water, scenery that is so heavenly. Everthing you could ask for in a lake but weeds. No millfoil or coontail, I mean non. Weeds are great for locating bass, I just used the large rocks and riprap. For those who don't know Nolin is only about 5k to 3k acres.

I fish alot of pits around here and I'm usually on the water by 4:30 to 5 in the morn. Yeah JB, I love that mist and smooth water. Thats the best time to be on it. Its great. Here's at bass I caught this year and its be over year since I hooked a nice one. Priorities take most of my time. Its alittle over 5 lbs. Nothing like what you have in Texas, Decker,:) but its pretty good for KY.

Out of a strip pit btw.

Ohh yeah, If anyone finds a wedding ring in Nolin lake, it might be mine.

I forgot my son had a magic show for school to go to, so I didn't do much at all but found a mistake in my fabrication of the stringers. I guess I'll REDO the cross members for the middle stringers. After the rain has come and gone that is.

Re: 1976 Arrowglass transom replacement and then some

If you like a challenge, I think the Muskie fishing at Cave Run can be extremely rewarding. I have adopted a catching policy. So if the artificial & bass baits aren't producing, bobbers & sunfish all day long :D Since it's all catch & release, it makes no real difference to me. But if pop is game, I may just 'borrow' my Jet back & drag it over there in mid-late October for some quality time w/ him. But probably not fishing for Muskie.

As they say: A bad day fishing is still so much better then a good day at work!

That was a really nice bass.
Stringers look good. What are you going to refab on them.

Hey Decker.
See post #135. In the first picture you can see a major gap from the little cross beam. I made it rectangular. I want to make it form the shape of the hull. Working on the templates right now. Not a big set back. Started raining but it shouldn't last long. Still plan on bedding the middle stringers.

Re: 1976 Arrowglass transom replacement and then some

Ofcourse, hardly anything goes as planned. Haven't got the stringers in yet.

I made some limber holes in the stringers. I wasn't going to add limber holes to anything under the deck, but after alot of thought, I've decided to go ahead and add the holes. I've post pics of how I've traced the shape of the hull. It gets the basic shape, just have to fine toon it after ya get it cut.

Making the templates. Used panel board and slid them in between the stringers. Made them taller than the stringers so I would have plenty of board.
