I told you to watch those Canadians.

You got it man... really Timmies is a cover for moving crude oil to Texas refineries! There is a secret pipeline that extends from the Cdn Tim Hortons to the US Tim Hortons ---- we just sell coffee and donuts to cover our tracks.... sneaky ain't it!

Sounds fine to me. IM. We need all the oil we can get to make gas. Maybe the Keystone pipeline should be re-named to Timmies "Coffee" pipeline.

Hey BN - It's great to have Mom volunteer to sew up the seats. Moms never stop looking out for the youngsters. :)

There will be lots of pics.

I got it tucked in the garage today. Tounge hangs out some but being a tilt trailer i just put a jackstand under the trailer and put the tongue on the ground.

I ordered some tune up parts, carb kit and impeller today. The fuel pump is shot to so I need to try to find a repair kit for it since a new one is $180.

bn - $50 bucks a letter, screaming deal on the "tarcrar", (as seen on 1st pic) :thumb:

Have you figured out if the block can be salvaged?

Not yet I dont. I need to get the fuel pump replaced so I can run it and see where the block leaks.Hopefully not internally. I may be going to look at a replacement motor tomorrow if the price is right.

BN, if you have a spare primer bulp and hose around, connect it to the inlet on the carb and put the other end in gerry can of gas, seal the hose in the can with tape or something. Then pump it up till the float closes making the bulb hard and fire it up. Just give the bulb a squeeze once in while and it will keep enough gas in the float bowl to run for a test.

Excellent idea Dozer has to fire her up. And it does work.

Since you have a tilt trailer, put some jack stands or blocks under the front of the frame, pop the pivot bolt and move the tongue out of the way. That's how I put a 25' boat/trailer combo in a 23' garage. I also had to raise the front up for the bow to clear the door.

I actually have a 5psi electric fuel pump i can use to fire it up. I did find a cheap used one to get by as well.

I thought about pulling the tongue off but I need to pull it back out again to replace the impeller. Hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll know the fate of the motor.

Re: 1977 Starcraft Supersport

Went and picked up my tune up parts today. I got a carb kit, plug wires, points and condensor and rotor. He didn't order me a cap so i'll have to get one. Also got a water pump impeller. Cost was about $100 but it's usually a good idea to do a tuneup on a used boat. I already have some new plugs laying around.

I also got a good used fuel pump from them. They didn't even charge me for it :D. I got it hooked up and cranked it over and once it got fuel to the carb it fired up and idled (a little rough). Only ran for a few seconds since I didn't have the muffs hooked up.

I'm off to the dentist now to have a couple teeth pulled. I've been in severe pain the last couple days and havn't got much sleep so I should be feeling better later. When I get home I have a few honey-dos on my list but I might get the boat pulled out and hook the muffs up. I'm hoping all is good and I can just JB weld the external crack. It is snowing outside so this is all weather pending.....

I'll try to make a video of it runing along with a video "tour" of the boat for you guys.

By the way, IT'S FRIDAY!! Not that it means much for me since I'm off work today and have to work Saturday and Sunday. O well, more boat funds I guess :D

Running is running, even if rough. Muffs on and see if the block waters the oil. Wishing the best on that, BN.

Re: 1977 Starcraft Supersport

Finished up at the dentist and feeling much better. Got home and pulled the SS out of the garage and hooked the muffs up. Ran it for about 20 minutes. Oil still looked clean so that was a good sign. It seemed to be blowing alot of steam out of the exhaust but it's also only 35ish degrees. Hopefully not an internal crack or blown head gasket. The used fuel pump was leaking a little so I may have to find another.

I did drain the water out of the motor when I was done since I don't want it freezing. Garage is insulated so it should be fine with any traces of water left inside.

Did the crack on the side of the block leak?

I didn't see any leaks from it. A little JB weld and it should be good. Just need to rebuild the carb and tune it up then wait for warmer weather.

Re: 1977 Starcraft Supersport

I've been thinking how I want to do the interior. I really like the interior layout of our deck boat so I may do something similiar. It has a big bunch across the back with a sundeck for the motor cover. It then has two captains chairs.

It would be pretty easy to do something like this. Opinions welcome :)

Re: 1977 Starcraft Supersport

Are you thinking about adding a sun deck as the motor cover? How much cockpit space would the full width seat take away. I know, no answers, just more questions. :grumpy:

It would probably take away another foot or so at the stern. Going to 2 captains chairs up front and having the back to back seats gone would gain that back. I want to turn it into a functional but comfortable fish and ski, since we do alot of both.

I will get a bunch of cardboard to lay it out first incase I don't like it that way im not wasting materials.

Re: 1977 Starcraft Supersport

I was tinkering with the boat today checking everything out and the deck is worse than I originally thought. With that being said I started tearing it out. I already have enough plywood to do it all. I still have 4 gallons of epoxy as well. Its alost 2 years old but I did a little research and they say epoxy will last many years with proper storage, which it has been. I also have a gallon of Gluvit. I just need to get a couple sheets of foam board for flotation. I did score 2- 4x8 sheets of 1.5" pink foam board for nothing. I will post some pics in a bit as soon as they load.

BN - Instead of cardboard to mock the rear seat, use some of the pink foam. It holds shape better and when you're done with it, put it under the floor as flotation. Some nails can hold it all together.
