*Finish removing glue and carpet.

*Apply gluvit to rivets and seams.

*Primer and paint inside of boat.

*Re-install cap.

I fixed your list BN. Gluvit, then paint. That's if you are painting the complete inside. If you're only painting the sides, never mind.

I'm just painting the sides and transom skin. The gluvit will probably get done before the paint but it depends what the outside temps are since I will be painting outside.

This morning I took the wire wheel and got the rest of the carpet remnants removed. I also got the glue off most of the port side. I just have the cheap paint stripper and it works ok but I think I might grab a gallon of the good stripper than I can lay it on thick and and pressure wash it off.



Inside of the strakes and inside the pockets on the sides are hard to get into to scrape the glue out. This is where the good paint stripper and pressure washer will work good.





I'm also going to replace the board up at the bow since it's easily accesible now. I'm thinking I want to replace it with a nice piece of stained oak. There really won't be any woodwork in the boat but I think it would look good up there.

just be REALLY careful with the pressure washer and paint stripper....water neutralizes it but it will still be pretty caustic when you first fire up the spray......use lots of eye and carcass protection

Here a a few mods I did to mine. Added more flush mount rod holders in the back deck and a trolling motor up front since these pics. And added wheel covers for the trailer. Food for thought.

I had the day off from work today so I worked on stripping off the glue on the inside. I got this pretty well completed. I just have a few spots to touch up then I will give the inside a thorough washing to remove any remaining stripper. I feel like I'm on track to get everything completed by the end of next week like I wanted. The again something could pop up and throw that all out of wack.

Growing up, my family had an 18' SuperSport with a 140 I/O. Your pics sure bring back a flood of memories. I can remember the day we brought it home. Although she came to love it, my mother wasn't convinced about owning a boat right away, so my father named it "Mom Gave In". Thing is, there were 5 of us kids and usually a few friends when we went out. So there my parents were cruising around the lake with a boat full of kids named "Mom Gave In". Gained my dad a bit of notoriety around the marina. He'd just smile every time.

Miss those days. Wonder where that boat is today?

It's almost a shame all the cleaness is getting covered up. On the plus side you got rid of a few pounds of "stuff" :eagerness:

Very soon, I still need to Gluvit and paint the inside then once I get the cap back on I'll flip it and paint the bottom. When that's done and she's rightside up again I can start installing the deck and transom.

After I finished stripping it I thought about leaving it bare but I think the glare off the aluminum would be to much to handle.


I'm going to soak down the inside with some simple green and give it one last washing. If it dries out good enough overnight I might put down Gluvit tomorrow. The paint probably wont happen till tuesday or wednesday since I stil need to get some water traps for the air line and some hardener for the paint. I also need to get all my pieces cut out for the bow support and get those sealed up and installed.

I got the inside about as clean as its going to get. Hopefully I can get Gluvit down tomorrow depending on what SWMBO has planned for me.

I got the Gluvit down this morning. I almost went blind since the sun was so bright and reflecting off the shiny aluminum hull. I also sprayed some ZC and primer on part of the hull I scuffed up yesterday. Tomorrow I plan on making a run to Menards to get the piece of oak I need and I also need to get some hardener for when I shoot the paint.

I got it half way complete. They are talking rain most of this week so I might not get the painting done. I can't do it in the garage because the fumes like to linger into the house.
