EZ, I'm going with the Rusto Machine gray then maybe down the line add snap in carpet to match that. I'll add carpet to the list. Looks good with what you did.
Maybe I'm just overthinking on all this :D...

Well I have my paint for me deck now :D had to run to Menards to get it. Also picked up some royal blue spray paint and just finished up my topsides. It was much easier just doing it with the rattle can.

Cup holders? The ones for the gaping holes in the port console/dash? If so, where did you find them? Been trying to figure out what I was going to drop into them holes.

Yup those are the ones. Only got them because I saw they were on sale and not too much... Heck I didn't even measure :D just guessed.

I want to try to get a coat of paint down today, maybe finish up the transom. Still need to shave off a bit. Maybe cut my side panels and console wood, or find my stuff to put this thing together. Hmmm I'll see what I feel like doing.

On the cupholders above, ours are 2" width and 2" deep. Well at least mine were. Ones I got were the 3"x3" I'm not complaining, but I'll just have to cut out a bit more and hopefuly they fit cause I know it's tight on these consoles... If it doesn't look like it will work I can return them (?not sure) or use them on something else.

--------------------

Got a coat over my primer today! I really enjoy rolling much more than spraying. I hope it sticks because the primer I did was kinda shotty. I'll know because I also put some on the garage wall without any primer as sort of a test. I also really like this gray, glad I got a gallon.

May need to add a bit more sand, but you can only really tell it's not uniform in the pictures. Once everything is in it should work.

Started sanding down my transom a bit to fit. I just need to mark it off and cut it with the jigsaw. I've been trying to do it while it's on the boat, and it's pretty darn difficult.
HPIM2504.jpg

Holes are also drilled. Just a couple need to be a bit bigger. I actually did my drain holes with a spade bit, and I think they will work! Whoooo.

Also went digging through stuff, and said "What the heck might as well start making the topsides look like it's a boat again". So I did... Hopefully I won't mess anything up :). (Still need to take off the tape. Leaving it on incase I need to make a touch up by the edge, and until I paint the stripe)

Glad to see this guy up front again... A reminder to finish every time I look at it! (Minus the tape still on, and a bit of overspray on my trim.)

So I'm pumped again to see things moving. It was very hot for us today, and I needed to stop after what little I did. I really didn't want to mess up my ply or anything else today.

Ohh you might ask, "Boatguy, what are you going to do with your aluminum trim?" Well to answer that, I think I might just send it all down to Bighoss next winter :D ;)! No I think that will be my project next winter if I really feel like it.

Not sure what "greenheads" are...but I'm interested in joining you fellas nonetheless.:)

My trim is conveniently already removed from the boat.

I just need to load it into the truck, with the beer cooler that I feel the need to bring as well.:D

BG, the deck is looking good and I know you are having a blast bolting in all that stuff again.

I liked it so much that I've dismantled the boat and put it back together a few times already...and haven't even painted yet.:D

Glad to hear your splashwell drains got drilled out with no issues. Wish I could say the same for mine.:facepalm:

The duck blind would be fun if you guys came down, drinking coffee, smoking cigars and telling stories mostly. The greenheads are Mallard drakes and fun to hunt. The Ohio/Michigan line...in an area called the lost Peninsula (actually in Mich), no out of state fees for ya'. Typical early season.. hunt in morning till 9am, take off camo and go perch fishing.

Thanks Huron! I do enjoy putting stuff back, maybe not as much as you do though ;). Yup splashwell drains should work, I got lucky for once...

Pizza party? Sweet :D. Yup I'm glad too, even if it isn't perfect I'm glad to see things going back together.

Re: 1978 16' Starcraft SuperSport Resto

Transom is cut, everything drilled, sanded, and now has a coat of epoxy drying :D. Wood for the two dash pieces are cut, and so are the console wood. Got a lot done. That also has epoxy drying on it now.

And last I got another coat of rusto down on the deck. I will definatally have traction, maybe a bit too much in place. Shoes are needed for sure . Snap-down carpet will be in the future.

So I'm really tired now :) so no pictures at the moment, well heck I was going so fast I never got any.
--------------------
My wiring plan as of now.
I really want to get out once soon before it starts to get busier. So I'm going to get the motor rigged and everything. Then I can go out, do a nice shakedown, and test things out. The only real thing I will have to make sure I have is the bilge pump ready. I know the motor is standalone pretty much so I should be ok right?
Any objections to this? I can wire it out of the garage when I get chance. And I'm still working on my wiring diagram :D.

Also I plan to use 10g from the battery to my fuse box by the dash, then 14g to everything else on the boat (this is not motor stuff) lights, bilge, radio? whatever. Are those the right gauges for what I want to do? I've really been trying to read up on my electrical stuff, but wanted to run it through my thread first.

Sorry if this doesn't make any sense at all. I think I should get some sleep... Runnin' on fumes now.

Envious!

Sounds like you have an end in sight. Friends are busting my butt asking if I'm done yet. Don't think they understand the right way to doing this type of project.

Gotta splash date set?

I basically wired a few things up like lights, bilge, and trim/tilt before I took the boat out each time last year. Good way to familiarize yourself with the boats electrical.:)

Have fun BG, video and photos will be appreciated.

Yeah I'm not exactly close to the finish either. I do agree how some people don't see how things need to be right, most don't bug me too much though... Splash date was set for May 27th (that didn't happen) I would sure love to have enough done by the end of next week to splash her. Really doubting that though. Maybe around the 4th?

That's what I was thinking of doing actually. My trim/tilt is all a part of the outboard, and will take a couple seconds to get working again (knockonwood).

Yeah I've been slackin' on the photos, I'm glad the mod hasn't showed up quite yet. If she gets to the water I'll for sure have pictures (you wouldn't all believe me :D)
-------------------------

Ok so I'm going to do the same gray on my side panels/dash/consoles that I did on my deck. I can always take things off again, and wrap in vinyl if I really feel like it. I'll just be using deck screws for the time being if I can. I do plan on wrapping with vinyl sometime (I hope)

Here is what still needs to get done before a splash:
-Stripe painted (tomorrow hopefully)
-Epoxy coats on transom/dash pieces/consoles (Done by Monday/Tuesday?)
-Order new steering cable
-Side panels?
-Get new battery from Costco (I have a rebate :D)
-Install transom
-Splash well
-Rig the outboard (control box/trim,tilt/steering/ect.)
-Make sure I can at least touch the bilge pump to the battery to make it work if needed.

Let's see what I can make happen... Let me know if I missed something crucial.

That's one of the many nice things about these boats. You can work on them in stages and still use them. You can also easily take stuff apart and do it again differently later without it being a huge mega deal.
