Almost there, after seeing your check list I've decided to toss mine. The project looks huge on paper and overwhelming. The innocent looking hull in the driveway much easier to wrap my brain around for now. BG, sitting on the water soon with cold drinks and cooler full of fish....man I wish there was a smiley face with envy.:) Good job Bro'

That's one of the many nice things about these boats. You can work on them in stages and still use them. You can also easily take stuff apart and do it again differently later without it being a huge mega deal.

Yup that is a huge plus. I've got myself convinced to take her apart again next year and spend more time on the interior stuff. (not taking the whole boat apart again though unless needed!!)

Exactly what I got, and I need another trip to Menards because everywhere near me doesn't sell it in the "Pro" brand  I'll be up there again tonight. And I'll even save $1 each :D.

Yup new launch date. Well if I can get in before that I would be really darn happy, but the first weekend is somewhat realistic.

Short list is great! Also love being able to check off things now. Yup I would say that they are all hard on that list. Should be fun! Thanks Glen!

Getting somewhere I guess, Hoss! You won't be too far behind, like you said you're in my wake :D. I haven't really looked at the list unless I wanted to make sure to remember something. It's really a bunch of small lists all over the place; computer, ipod, paper, printer, car, desk, boat, garage haha. Thanks man! There is a  smiley though ;):p

Re: 1978 16' Starcraft SuperSport Resto

So stripe is taped out. That took a whole roll of tape and a lot of swearing. I had my friend who is pretty good at the taping stuff, and we knocked it out in a couple hours. We did it freehand, and only used a paper template to put the marks on. I think it should look good. I'll get pictures when it's all done.

One thing that would have really helped would have been a better template. I was just fed up with waiting. Another thing would have been the really thin 1/8" tape. Getting 1" tape to do a curve can be tricky.

Too bad both Lowes, and Home Depot don't have that or my Royal Blue Pro Rusto... I ran out with the painting 3/4ths done... Off again tonight to get more at Menards.

Also transom has another coat of epoxy on, and so do the console panels and dash ones. Those will just end with some light machine gray paint. I don't care if it comes off because it's all temporary till I vinyl it this winter. Side panels will get the same treatment, and everything will be screwed/bolted on somehow.

Gosh, your not kidding. Always writing a list of boat related things. Some get washed when wife does laundry. Not to mention the time spent not sleeping while lying in bed thinking of the work you want to do on the boat.

Yup there have been lots of hours of sleep lost because I'm trying to figure out, or worry about something on the boat. This will be great when it's "done".

I'm off to Menards in a few. Gotta throw down another coat of epoxy, and some paint before I go. Then dash panels and console panels will be water proof, just need to cut out the spot for the glovebox, and put everything on. Sweet!

Well crap cell pics, but it should do for the moment.

2nd coat of epoxy drying on the transom. Had to go and sand down a ton of drips...
IMG_0353.jpg

Had some epoxy left over so I did what Huron does, and coated my paddle. :D
IMG_0352.jpg

Dash/console pieces drying. Decided on doing 2 coats after my thinking. 1 more coat then paint.
IMG_0351.jpg

Nice blurry picture of a box of stuff from iBoats.
IMG_0350.jpg

Hull filled with stuff already...

Extremely crappy picture of how my stripe looks. I knew I had to get pictures for you guys though. Needs a bit of sanding to get rid of a few runs then the final coat. Then the moment of truth, the tape comes off...
IMG_0349.jpg

Sorry again for how bad these look. The lighting sucks in my garage, and I didn't want to go get the other camera.

Re: 1978 16' Starcraft SuperSport Resto

You guys deserve better. Even if it is the same pictures, just ones you don't have to get a headache trying to figure out what is in the picture. From here on out I'll try my best to get better pictures...

Transom has its last coat of epoxy. Then it's going in the boat. Hopefully without too much hassle.
HPIM2517.jpg

Dash and console pieces have their last coats too. Should be nice. Just need a coat of paint each side then they are going in the boat. Like I said, next season they will get vinyled and made to look nicer.
HPIM2516.jpg

Put the splash well in. I have to say the boat felt much bigger without this...
HPIM2511.jpg

And here is my stripe! 1 more coat tomorrow when my friend can come back up. This was his project so I'm not going to mess with it. Got to love it when someone doesn't want you to finish their job! I think it's pretty close to the original... Maybe a bit off. Top part looks a bit big now, but it is going off of what I had made.
HPIM2512.jpg

Uhhhohh battery is charging. I might try something soon, and don't want to have to run to Costco to get a new one. This one will suffice.
HPIM2518.jpg

Here is my cool stuff from iBoats. LED trailer lights, bilge pump, drains, thruhull, cable boot.

Ever make a promise and break it right away? Well I'm about to post cell pictures again... :faceapalm: Then again I don't think you need to see much to see where I'm going with this.

Well the old side panels looked great to me, so in they went. They are solid with just two rivets, and if I don't have to screw into my deck yet I will be a happy camper. Next year I want to redo it all anyways, so why cut it now if they are still solid? :D I know some of you are very envious right now.

I guess I'll have a half done boat for now. I will mess around with things when I really feel like it once the dash and consoles are in. And I have until mid July to make sure everything is sound, and wiring is somewhat done, and that I have things the way I want to. Outboard will also get an impeller change, and I need to do lower unit soon  bad Boatguy!

Also I forgot where half of these even came from. the rest should be fun! Need to pick up some more bolts for the knee brace tomorrow. All mine have messed up threads.

Ohh and for seating I'll be breaking out the good ole' camping chairs, maybe a deck chair as well. Yup now I'm offically crazy... Just ready for the water! Seats will come soon anyways.

Re: 1978 16' Starcraft SuperSport Resto

Stripe is painted and looks pretty good! Not perfect, but it will work and I think it looks close to the original. I'll have pictures up later today.

Transom went in without a problem. It's had 2 coats of epoxy each side. I need to make a trip to the hardware store and get more bolts for my knee brace. I'm hoping to get that wrapped up today and get the motor on.

Also have my trailer light wiring started. If only I could figure out how they got the wire to the port side. I ran the snake down the frame, and come to fins out there is no hole like on the other side. I'm probably just going to drill the hole. I'll get a picture of that up later as well.

So to do today:
-transom in
-put together consoles, dash pieces
-Steering in
-put motor on
-hook everything up

I will see what I can finish. I've been on a roll lately (knock on wood), and I will have quite a bit of time today.

Re: 1978 16' Starcraft SuperSport Resto

Got a ton done today. Almost...

Transom is in, and all hardware on it. All sealed up with 5200.
HPIM2520.jpg

HPIM2521.jpg

Got my trailer lights on too. They look cool. Just need to get a better ground on one of them.
HPIM2522.jpg

Consoles are also in now. Just need screws down to the deck and dash panels.
HPIM2519.jpg

Windsheild needs some adjusting, but will be solid for now. I should also probably put a gasket under it.

Tomorrow the motor is going on, and screws in the splashwell. Then either tomorrow or Saturday she goes in the water. I will see. Still a lot to do, but the worst is almost over.

Ohh and you probably want to see how the stripe turned out. Thanks a ton to my friend who helped out with this, and another that helped a ton today with everything.
HPIM2524.jpg

I'll have to get a better photo when it is out of the garage. Not perfect, and a few runs but it's pretty good.
