Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

I hope we don't hear the whining we got last time, the day before a trip to the lake, (in a sniffling kinda voice)..."Sorry guys, I just don't think I can do it, I tried, I really really did!". Maybe this time is for real!

...just messing' with ya. Hehehe

Oh man, I tell ya what - I'm super glad I pulled the plug on the attempt to finish before our vacation! That would have been a total failure on so many levels!

Bah, no sweat. That talk of the lake may have absolutely zero relevance to this SN:)

So yah, a.m. progress, plumbing up the baitwell.

Here's the finished product...
P1090181.jpg

New holes, patched up an old one that didn't make any sense and new fittings all around;)

Here's the plumbing side of things...
P1090182.jpg

1" high side drain is "T"ed into the bottom drain down low there. You can see the 3/4" fill coming from the pump there too.

Really glad that part is sorted:)

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Here's how I did the patch. See, this lower hole here was originally set as the drain. Didn't make a bit of sense to me.

So, I grabbed a scrap piece of alum...
P1090172.jpg

Schmeered on some 5200...
P1090174.jpg

Rivets coated too...
P1090176.jpg

Poped em in place, made sure I had good squeeze out all around...
P1090177.jpg

Dabbed some 5200 into the rivet heads and cleaned everything up...

All set!

Baitwell looks good J.

Will a push-in stand pipe work in that bottom drain? Maybe cut it off an inch or 2 below the top overflow drain, I see water sloshing out on take-off and in rough water with the overflow that high up.

Wow Jason, 7 pages of posts since I went on holidays, it took a while to catch up. Absolutly great job on the dashes, the aluminum was the right way to go. Love the horn and the lights. The whole project is coming along first class as usual. Impaitiently waiting for the seating seating layout.

I'll have a gasket in place around the hatch that should handle most of the slosh. But, if it ends up being a problem I could do a refit on the top drain of some sort.

Thanks Glen, appreciated:) Yah, I was eyeballin the boat today thinking about seating. I have a couple of challenges which make for a couple of options. I think I ought to make a quick video and ask you guys for some opinions.

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Huge thanks to Andrew (boatnut) for hooking me up with a new trim tab, he even soda blasted for me!

I got that painted up and installed today.

I threw a bracket on the baitwell pump as it was just kinda sitting out there and was nervous it would snap off. Now where'd that pic go?

Kill switch installed (thanks to the fellas over on the electrics forum). I thought right here would be a great spot for that...

It'll be right at my hip if I'm sitting at the helm and I can still reach the whole cockpit hooked up, that's good stuff;)

And with that, I am calling all the mechanicals done! Man, it sure felt good cleaning up and putting away all my plumbing/electrical tools this afternoon:D

You would honestly be most happy with some pedestal bases in various spots and a few seats to move around. Kind of pricey but best bet.

High five guys! We're making it happen!!:D

I have neglected my motor cover long enough, so, front badge removed, decals off, holes filled with JB, sanded smooth, cleaned, primed and painted...

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Thanks guys, she's looking a little plane at the moment. I have some decals to sort out to make her look purdy:)

Rheagler was asking for a list and yah, I do think it's about time.

Well the major stuff on the checklist:

- Paint and install hatch covers and latches

- Figure, build and install seating stuff

- Install some rod holders bow side

- Install trailer guide on's

- Windshield!

- Few more decals and smaller detail type things

- Safety gear

- Snap in carpet

- Fill with 50:1 OB juice

- Go boating:D

(not necessarily in order)

Does the naming ceremony happen before the "go boating?" I didn't see it in the list.

I believe I have a name picked out, though she may speak to me here at the first couple floats;)
