Looking great... Plumbing on the bait-well looks great and so does the cowl... If my SN turns out even 1/2 as good, I'd be thrilled. You've got some skills.

Dood, your boat has floated, run and caught fish. Your rig is already a thousand times better than mine!

K, a.m. progress!

I got the Hull ID Tag back where it's supposed to be...
P1090194.jpg

SN ran rivets through there which didn't make any sense to me as they just dug into the transom creating space for water to hang out. So I opted for ss screws and 5200.

There were two giant holes in the gunwale over on the port side so I filled em up with some nice SS rod holders I pillaged from some sorry lookin glasser...

I added one over on the starboard side just to even things up...

Oh yah, those also serve to hold fishing rods too!

I shaped up some foam scored from another dead bondo boat. They will be covered in vinyl and installed on the bow side of the consoles...

Hopefully I can get those over to my uhpolstry guy and run through pretty quick here.

Closer!:D

Hey, it was totally unfair that I posted a photo of Jen in her jammies the other day. So, here's a quick shot at our anniversary date the other day...

On the temp sender.

Looks good but if your engine is anything like my FIL's there are two copper tubes that go up the leg from the water pump
One for the right and one for the left...

My FIL had an Impeller failure and clogged the left tube, and made the left side of the engine a perdy shade of rainbow.

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Hey doods!

All right, not a lot of legitimate progress this morning. I did a lot of staring and thinking about seating, mocked up some stuff too. The challenges I was thinking of before don't seem to be all that bad. This boat is going to be a Fish AND Ski boat so I'll need to make a bit of a compromise on both.

So, I pretty well made the decision to carry on with my original seating plan:

Two helm seats and a flip up bench/casting stern deck/storage box, cool!

So here's the start of part #1, helm seats...

Couple things - These seats are sweet! They are slide fore/aft and spin 360, very cool! They were had on the cheap too since they were in the glasser that found another path in this world. The pedestals are just a bit too high on these so I'll cut em down a smidge. You can see the captains chair sitting on a block of wood, that should be about the height I'll be going with. They will get overhauled and I really don't think I can get them clean enough to look good so they will be painted up. I already have cushions for em too, hang tight on that;)

I think your seating plan is a good one. Thats basically the same layout we have on our deck boat and it works out great.

I would put one base up front and one back further then you can change them. Versitility is really nice to have.

Since you asked for my opinion...

I'd go as love as you dare on the seats. It's always more comfortable to have a lower center of gravity, both for the boat itself, and your person. It's very easy to raise yourself slightly with a Type IV throwable cushion (which you legally have to have accessible), but it's tough to lower it once you've set the height.

I was thinkin those seats sure were pretty high...... Sounds like you already have that taken care of.... Carry on....

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

After running the Folding type boat seats in my Jet, I have to say I love those seats!

First they look easy to clean, and second they look really sturdy!

I have yet to find a donor glasser with seats I want, usually they have those back to back seats, or someone else got to the seats before I did.

I have great luck with windshields though

In my Jet; the white part on my seats is not so white, and I'm having a hard time getting it back.
And the frame of my Seats apparently is a bit weak

I had a buddy driving my boat while I fished, he leaned back real far and bent the frame up, odd because I gotta have like 50lbs on him and I can't damage the seats :)

And I also installed my seats maybe a tad to low, but it's nice in rough weather, keeps me below the windshield and my hat on my head.

When at 1/4 throttle the bow of my boat gets up a bit high, and I have to do the ol Type IV as a booster seat, otherwise it's perfect :D

One thing I have seen in newer boats is the flush type Seat mounts in several spots so you can move the seats around as you see fit.

Have one lay out for ski boat mode, and another lay out for fishing mode. :)

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Try one of those "Mr. Clean Erasers". I used one on my seats which are pretty much exactly the same and they came out looking new. Not sure what cushions you got, but thicker is definitely better (then again, I'm on the high side of 40 so that's an age thing I suppose). The seats are great but a smidgeon unforgiving if you'll be in them for a long run.

I think you've got a great plan for the seating. And I'm sure you've already planned for it, but I'll suggest anyway: snap-ins all around for the cushions.

Looking good, btw!

Yah, should be quite functional. Like I said, I'll be compromising a bit though. Probably not the perfect fishing rig nor the perfect ski boat. But hopefully aok at both anyway:)

I kinda want those to stay put (arm rests and all). I'm considering a pair of those butt seats on bases for the stern nd bow deck. We'll see on that.

LOVE YOU TOO Titan!!:D

Yah, you can see the wood block is at 5.5" tall, that's pretty close to where I want it I think. It was very comfortable when I was checking it out this morning.

Yah, One of those has a repair that will need to happen. I'll post up when I get there eh.

Yah e$, it's hard to tell in the photos up there but the seats have yellowed quite a bit. They look bad sitting next to the white gunwales, so I'll paint em up with that plastic paint stuff. They should spiff up like new.

Yup, I do have a plan for snaps n such. Should work out pretty dern good:D
