Now that's a good lookin' fish. Do you have to have a Sea Nymph to haul those in?

OK, partial update. I got the seats painted up...

I sanded with 220, cleaned and used "plastic" paint.

They are ok in the photo there but up close they aren't great. I think I'm giving myself a C- on the paint job there. Painting plastic is kinda tough. I may go back and give em a light sand and recoat. Or maybe just mount em. We'll see.

I got the seat bases chopped down...

Painted the knobs and cleaned up all the hardware, ready for install...

I got some forward motion on the windshield too!:D

I had a "little" luck in the past block sanding plastic when I've painted it. Notice I said "little" and went to the extra effort of putting it in parenthesis. 220 grit wrapped around something flat (cut off piece of 2x4 works) and then finish it up with 320 around the same block. The key to plastic paint sanding, if there is one, is to make sure you resist the thought of using your hands when sanding because you won't get even pressure.

Then again, your pads will be covering quite a bit of it, so who gives a 'you-know-what'.

Hey Jas, I may own a bondo boat now, but that dosn't keep me from seeing a quailty boat or excellent craftmanship when I see it. And you sir have both. I really enjoy your thread and all that goes along with it. Keep up the good work.

Thanks a bunch gents! Yah, plastic seats and paint maybe not the best idea. I think if I got a do over card I'd put some more energy into cleaning, Magic Eraser, bleach, whatever rather than paint. I'm sure after a few seasons of abuse they will be all scratched up. Ah well, no sweat. I'll just quick sand and repaint every few years, 15 minute job, no biggie.:)

I did a rough fit this morning. Here's kinda what they will look like...

I need to yet get the mounting screws and snaps to complete the install. I totally forgot to account for the seat cushions so I'm going to chop those pedestals a smidge more.

Paint aside, these will be pretty awesome!:D

K, windshield!:D

First up, since this was a 5 piece windshield and I'm not using the center section I had to very carefully cut off these hinges...

Also, these side pieces had long tails on em. George was kind enough to trim em for shipping and leave me a little chunk to cut later...

Cutting that left an open section on the end where the channel is. JB Weld sanded smooth finished that off nicely.

Thanks George, that plan worked out really well!

What size and type hardware are you going to use to fasten the pedestal bases to the deck?

K, dry fit. I had about 4 different ways that I figured I could install these. I threw some duck tape on the bottom so it wouldn't scratch things up and worked it. This was my favorite of the bunch...

Did you know the width of your windshield when you built the dash bases, or did you get extremely lucky? It lines up perfectly.

Big stainless screws.

Well George and I emaild measurements back and forth a bunch and I figured I had at least few options on how to install. I really wanted to use all 5 pieces to make a full windshield but that would have been sooooo hard to make it work. I'm glad I'm just going this 4 piece route;)

Got a pair of stainless brackets on the way from Great Lakes Skipper too, should look pretty cool:cool:

They look great, as does the 'made' to fit windshield;)

Keeping paint on the plastic seats will make 'em last & look good for a long time. I've seen some that got left out exposed to UV, and man the plastic got worked. Then again, so did the rest of my FireFlite's interior .... They were of course inexpensive, wally world seats. Yours are already a higher quality seat.. But paint will help significantly..

I'd be curious to know what the other 4 ways of putting the windshield on are. Was it sideways left, sideways right, backwards, & upside down??? I do believe you picked the correct way! Looks great!

Solid work as always man. I'm hoping to get out a couple more times then tear down my dash to mimic your setup. Looking good man.
