Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild
All right, I dropped the family off at the beach area and headed to the dock. Launched and right away could tell the idle was set a bit too low. She kept wanted to stall out going from N to F or R. Maybe a carb cleaning issue, maybe just the idle. At any rate I had to pull the boat over to one of the side slips and monkey with the throttle for a bit to get it aok.
Then I went for a ride...
(Sorry my head was sorta chopped off, bow light was my camera man. The boat is the important part anyway

)
Being a hot Sunday afternoon there was a fair bit of boat traffic so I had to do a lot of heads up driving. Now that I think of it I didn't look once at my gauges, rats!
K, commentary...
@ :53, just bringing her up to speed for the first time, loving life!
@ 2:18, hitting the throttle at cruising speed clues me in that this OB has some power!
@ 2:22, this time of year the weeds are high in certain areas, came right up on some
@ 3:30, OB back down, game on...
@ 3:51, gave the throttle a little push and the boat just wants to shoot out from under neath me! (course I don't have a seat either

)
@ 4:40, I check WOT for the first time, I'll be honest, I was a little scared, then I just had fun
@ 5:26, man she turns really smooth, love it!
@ 6:15, now I'm just havein a great ol time!
@ 6:52, I am again surprised at the power, this boat just jumps at the throttle
@ 7:56, I wanted to do a speed check so I worked my phone for a bit - really needed to keep my eyes on the water for other boaters and weeds
@ 9:12, I think when I hollar out wwwwhhhhhhhhhoooooooggggghhhhhhh, that means I'm going fast
@ 10:47, open water, hammer down, I think I might have caught a glimpse of 41.8 on my phone maybe? Yah, I know, not really
that fast. I'll tell ya, I have absolutely no desire to go any faster in a little 16' alum boat!
@ 14:24, pause it right there and that sums up my whole ride!
@ 14:35, there was a glittery bass boat passing me going the other way. My wave meant "Yah, I know you are all glittery and have a gigantic V6 on the back of your floating health hazard but I'll totally smoke you with my vintage, elcheapo, beer can. Wanna race? HHHhahahahhhahah"
@ 15:27, not a single drop of water in the bilge
Man, what a great ride, loved every minute of it!!!
