Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Just got caught up on your thread(on vacation up north right now but it's raining:)) and she's looking great.:D

Glad to know the starter issues turned out to be non-existant for ya, easier on the budget to have a small glitch with the cables.;)

I love the dash and the LED strips. I've been planning on running some of those under the gunwales on my rig eventually as well.

Great work dude, and congrats on the 13 year milestone:D

Thanks a bunch for swinging by guys:)

Well, I'll be installing the horn in the morning, though I have two options. Check em out...

I know, they are both way overkill for this Sea Nymph!

Now, the single on the left has it's own compressor:cool: The dual air horn on the the right is electric. Even though it's dual, the single air horn is way louder. Super loud! So, I think the single needs to go to the Islander for the bigger water.

That means the dual goes on this Sea Nymph? Maybe? It's a really nice horn, but is it just too big?

OK, I know it's big. But is it ridiculous big? Or just regular big?

OK, I just got a vote for dumb off the public forum. I think he didn't want to call me out:redface:

But it's all good:D

I'm not a fan. I would step or fall on them if I were on the forward deck.

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

OK, I just got another message:

"If you want a gigantic metallic twin trombone mounted on your boat, hey that's cool. Though, it kinda defeats the whole purpose of that super slick recessed fuel fill:rolleyes:." "Yah, the horns are entirely dumb. What were you thinking?"

PMC said that ^^^

I say, "Mount them". I mean if you don't mind looking silly and having folks (namely us) making fun of you behind your back, then more power to you. I appreciate a guy that can stand up to ridicule......deserved or not!

Now, onto the real post.....I like those Led's a lot!! Nice touch, especially with all that shiny-ness. What kind of amp draw?

LED's=Super cool
Single or double "trombones"=ehhh, not so much...look like they belong on a 150 ton diesel electric engine...maybe if it wont rattle the boat to pieces, you could hide them under, somewhere, anywhere......maybe under the first mate's seat???...kind of like an ejection horn...

Ok, so I have bear on board with the horns anyway but I do believe th "dumbs" have it. So, no go on either horns for this Sea Nymph. I'll have to dig around in my dead glasser scrap box to see what's left for horns in there eh.

Thanks for setting me straight boys!:)

I like the double horns,...

Although I am in favor of function over form,....

If your ever caught out in a heavy fog you will want people to here you, And vice verse,....

A tournament angler/guide I knew had a set of brass horns of off a 1950's era Mack truck mounted on his Ranger 621 with a compressor and tank in one of the below deck hatches,....You had no problem hearing him when he wanted to be heard,....

And to be honest,............I think they look cool!!!!!

Those style horns would be cool for the Islander but silly for the SN. The LEDs are friggin' awesome.

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Since the kybosh was put on giant horns for the SN I started in on bundling up wiring stuff and the like. After a while I started packing up those two horns, the dual went back in the box. That single was kinda nasty looking, corroded and stuff. So I thought I'd clean it up before I packed it away. Grabbed some fine steel wool and it shined up like new!

Well, instead of putting it in the box, I put it here!

Yah, I realize it looks kinda dumb and out of place there but I'm going to have some fun with it. It's like Mack Truck loud so it's certainly functional, eh! Kiddos will love it too!

The single doesn't look as ridiculous as the dual sitting on there. It's all good.

I was kind of chuckleing to myself as I was installing a compressor to the bulkhead here...

You can see I used a couple of rubber washers to make for a nice fit. Yah, there's actually an oil port on that compressor too, ha!

So yah, monster trombone is on the boat. You guys have the green light to heckle me all ya like!

I did have a couple of visitors this morning too. My buddy Ethan and a big wooly caterpillar found their way into the SN...
