Jim - "domestic sewing bliss", really? You headed for the doghouse, son. Oh wait a sec, you only have O/Bs.
Outstanding work, Glen. No pressure, but I'm itching to see the finished. Gonna be a stunning SS 201!
1st class stuff right there Glen. That looks better than what you could have paid someone to do. I've got to get me a sewing machine!!

I had to make a trip to the city with the picker truck on Tuesday, so I stopped at Home Depot to pick up some supplies. I got my first look at Arucca ply. Can't say I'm real impressed. I got three sheets of 1/2" for the front of the conuls and the side panels. I found the sheets are warped fairly bad and no where near as nice as good old Douglas fir. Oh well live and learn.
Here's a couple pics of the new side panels, cut, sanded and fit, then coated with spar varnish ready for vinyl.

Hey glen... well they look pretty good in the photo's there... but other than the warpage... how else were they?
Glad to see you are making progress... PS: Thanks for sending the cold weather this way!!!
J.
I was planning on using the arucca plywood, because it is easy to find. Douglas fir is that standard grade AC plywood in Canada? Not sure that I have ever seen it in stock around here. There is a company in the next town over from me that only sells plywood. If i was to go there what should be my first choice. The floor in my boat is solid, but my project is slowly turning from a quick fix up to a full blown restore. Thanks, Brian
The 1 time I found Auraco, the 1/2 was more expensive then the 3/4, and I didn't look thru the sheets, but I did look at the 3/4 and it looked great....
Heard nothing but good stuff about it, hate to hear the 1/2 was warpped & not as expected...
Panels look fabulous!
Anybody can make nice wood look good (ok that may not be true)
But it takes some talent to turn out the panels ya got there Glen, esp if from questionable materials
Bummer about your ply Glen! I've always been real happy with the stuff I've used. Round here it's waaayyy better than exterior grade. Nearly as nice as MG, at half the cost.
Have a great weekend buddy!:joyous:
Excellent looking work on the dog house cover. Big cost saving being able to do it yourself and the satisfaction of in ones own handiwork.
One word... "WOW"!
^^^ Ditto!!!
Last weekend Darcy made the trek out here with the Naked Lady to do some fishing and boating, WOW what a great time. She runs awsome, 5500 rpm 40mph with the two of us in the boat, very solid and very quiet ride. We are waiting for DARCY to forward the picture so I can post them for all to see. She is definatly a head turner, boats would go out of there way to come by for a look. We were anchored fishing and a big $50g LUND all decked out, trolled right up to us and asked what dealer was selling new Starcrafts like her, we got a real good chuckle out of that. As soon as I get the photos I will post them.
Glen
Thanks guys, boy you have a good memory GA.
Kinda ran out of steam this afternoon, so I didn't get to the other side.
