Re: 1986 ss 201

I whacked my head when I fell over, ouchamagouch.

So we are looking for another 20' SS eh? Man those things are hard to find!

(Well, except that one that's parked just a few steps from yur back stoop eh:rolleyes:)

Just a regular SS not the off shore design.

Dozer - You need a pontoon or deck boat. :faint2::eek:

Those are all itchy glass boats GA

:dizzy: :jaw:

That's what the Admiral did BF

Sold! To the short red head in Michigan that kicked out of the house and taken up residence in the garage and is staying with the Naked Lady! Woooo Hoooo!

Living in the garage, I think I might be close to that.

Re: 1986 ss 201

Glad to hear your making good progress Glenn. 240 lbs sounds like 100 lbs more then my 2 115 amp/hour deep cycles and 70 lbs thrust TM, but thats a guess. I put my batteries under the consoles and haven't found any difference in performance, but different boat.

Plus I'm much more of a Cadillac man then a sports car guy.

Maybe you should just skip the whole Resto stage, and just build boats? I'd buy a GlennCraft. :joyous:

Perhaps you should consult with Jason on the battery placement he may be able to help you relocate the batteries so you don't have to sell the big girl.

Oh, No he didn't ^^^

How much time ya got Dozer? That could take a while....

GlennCraft does have a nice ring to it  Certainly would deserve some consideration of a custom logo for the rigs rolling out of the SC hanger. SOTY officially made it a high caliber operation.

I thought someone asked earlier about the 18'-22' SS, skipping the 20' SS....

Thought that was here...

Thanks Paul, I'm kinda the Cadillac guy as well, but when something is claimed to do what it's supposed to I'm like a little OCD till I figure it out.

By golly Sig I think you figured it out, I never did consult Jason on the battery placement.

Thanks JB, I have seen them listed but very few. I may even take a step further back and go to an 18 and with an outboard, and maybe even a Holiday:facepalm:

Um, that's not funny. I am super awesome at batt placement. I cover every possible angle and concealable situation.

I should charge for my batt placement services!

(by the hour, I'd be loaded!!)

with an outboard:facepalm:

Uh, now you've just gone right over the edge buddy. Breath, deep breaths, take it easy now. Count to 10. 100 if you have to. (Counting to 100 is the same in Kanuckville as it is here in the US so it shouldn't be too hard)

I'm counting Jason, how long do you want me to do it:laugh:

I found a 22SS with 165Mercruiser, still thinking about it.

Glenn I thought you had an 18' with an outboard already

I do have an 18 V5 O/B but it is pretty much the same hull as my 201.

Thanks Otte, it doesn't seem to matter how many of these things a guy rebuilds they still throw new stuff at you. Good thing we all have this site full of knowledge to help us figure them out.

Re: 1986 ss 201

Glen,

That is a great looking boat and restore job! I have the exact same boat (in not nearly the same condition) and this is the first time I've seen another one like it. It's exactly the same (down to the colors) except the I/O is an OMC Cobra instead of Merc. I wish I had the time and skill to do what you have done to yours. I got mine from my grandfather who bought it used in 1988. I hope to pass it on to my kids someday. Again, great work with your boat.

Thanks Ryan, you should post up some pictures of yours. How fast does your SS travel at? Is it he 4.3 OMC?

Re: 1986 ss 201

Right now, it goes 0mph tops. I cracked the block in it two winters ago and haven't had time to get it fixed. It's sitting in my garage with two engines next to it and zero engines in it (other than the 9.9HP kicker). It has the 4.3 OMC. I never did any detailed speed testing, but it would go over 40 with a good aluminum prop. I can't remember what size or pitch prop I had on it at the time.

I can't find any pictures of it in one piece right now, but I'm sure I have some. I'll try to post them later tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks for the info Shuck, that's what I'm getting out of mine just over 40. Hope you get the motor issue fixed, looking forward to some photos.

Hey Jim, I guess they never made a 20 SS for some reason, and NO I'm not going over to the wrong side, the Holiday is an MC 120.
