sorry, been raining here, and working full time I got to work on the engine all day.
I now have an update on my progress...
I have the engine back together, lifters adjusted per the FSM, and engine oil primed through the system. I have the wiring harness back on (did not leave it connected to the engine when I removed it) , and all connectors, connected back to the components which includes: ignition coil, distributor, purple wire to the electric choke also had a black ground to the choke housing, the red cable back to the positive starter terminal, Yellow with red wire back to starter solenoid, and the larger black ground wire grounded to a bolt on the bell housing.
note...I don't have a spare battery to use, for the remote starter rig. I will be using jumper cables from my Ford Edge battery, for this procedure, if this is possible? I know I can jump the starter this way, and have been doing that to help with the lifter/ rocker lash adjustments.
My questions are:
1. How do i wire the Momentary switch, that I bought for the starter, and the 0n/Off toggle switch for the coil, so I can try to start the engine
3. The distributor rotor is not pointing to the #1 cylinder when on TDC compression. It is pointing to about the 4:00 position. Is this correct the this year Mercruiser 3.0? . I have not removed the dizzy or disturbed the timing hold down, but someone else may have...I can remove the dizzy, and reinstall it if I need to tomorrow morning.
I just feel like it is in question, however I saw a picture of the same kind of dizzy that I have, and it shows the rotor for the #1 cylinder when on TDCC point to the 4:00 position, here is a picture of it....call me crazy lol..so i may have to change my firing order if this pic is correct
thanks for the help, as always
