Thanks guys. Helps dull the pain of the of that work. I did get the side marker lights mounted and wired. I'll shoot another vid at night.

Dudes.

I was procrastinating as I dreaded pulling the throttle controls off the gunwale supports as it was a b*tch last time. Getting the bolts to line up in the mounting plate, etc was a beast the first time so I was putting it off. Turns out I was able to pull the old controls off and the new ones on in just over an hour.

I procrastinated on pulling the transom off early on in the same way as I was concerned about getting it right and built the whole difficulty up in my head instead of getting right at it.

I think it was the brass pivots that screw onto my 33c cables that were worn out causing binding and not giving my full range of motion on the cables.

The little white push button was also not going in all the way and was not allowing me to move the throttle without shifting. Off course pulling the shifter off and testing it...it started working properly.

The new Morse/Teleflex sl-3 shift control is all mounted in and is working with full range of motion and allowing throttling in neutral.

Odds are I just needed a Cable Nest Kit & Connection Kit......212151-001 for the controls and I would have been ok.

I'll probably just ebay my old controls as they were working and just needed some tlc and that connection kit.

Here are some pics of the old controls on the deck.

More pics of the controls that are finally installed.

I may just hook up the tank in the next couple of days and try out a test run.

Make sure to take tons of pics as the forum members like 'em but also as reference when you're going to bolt everything back. I've gone back countless times looking at how I took it apart to put it all back again.

Closer every day.

I finished pop riveting the bottom of the gunwale supports in place since the shifter is installed and got one of the back to back seats bolted into place as well. Actually it's 6 - 1/4 x 1.5 inch stainless lag bolts per seat base...with the holes prefilled with 4200.

The other seat will get installed in the next day or so and then it's the starboard piece that will get bolted above the water line down to the bottom of the transom skin. My transducer, etc will get screwed into that so no screw holes below the water line.

My neighbor and I will also be cutting an oak barrel I have in half and using that to run the boat on rv coolant. The leg will be in the barrel with a small in line pump hooked up to the muffs that will feed the muffs rv coolant. The coolant getting spit out will run into the barrel where the inline pump re-feed the same coolant to it.

After that I'll take my old canvas camper top out and dry fit it to see how bad it is. I may take it by a tent and awning place in town here and get them to sew in some new windows and zippers ...or use it as a template for a new canvas top.

Sprintman - The half whiskey barrel and antifreeze sounds like a good way to get the water out. Sounds a lot easier than some of the other methods to flush AF for winterization (actually, I understand this way) but still do the block drain steps. It helps to get rid of some of the rust and scale in the block. Looking good.

Definately. I'll pull the plugs after but wanted to make sure there was rv coolant in the nooks and crannies in case there is a pocket somewhere that traps water.

I've seen it done with a small kids pool but this will be free since the barrel is just sitting there :)

I managed to get there other seat all bolted in so tomorrow is the gas tank and maybe some wiring.

I had a unused ground wire for the second battery touch the hot lead going to the trim motor solenoid and the wire burst into flames. I'll rewire it up and protect everything in shrink tape this time. The only area exposed of course grounded out. Better now than on the water. That old wire burned like crazy for a sec.

It was amazing hot fast that wire melted and burst into flames. Wouldn't that be something...get this far and cook it in the driveway :)

Try to burn me up...shame on you. Try to burn me up 5 or more times...shame on me. Try to tell the old cable from the new.

Checkout the new cables and boots feeding the up/down solenoids. The old ones were cruddy anyways. I also upgraded the size slightly to 8 gauge.

I also threw in the fire extinguisher and bracket that was sitting in the garage...a lot of good it would do there.

Got some of the hoses in place for the tank. I doubled up on the hose clamps. The Moeller gas filler tube collapses because of the bends though. I'll have to pickup a new non collapsible hose on the weekend.

The geese are flying over here. Might have been able to pop off a round from the boat :)
