Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Troop, refresh my memory... R U Painting or Gelcoating the Hull? Did any of those cracks reveal themselves on the inside of the hull? And if so, did you do the required repairs on the inside??? I sure hope so cuz, a couple of em sure look like they need it. I hope my memory is just bad!!!!:D

Wood - I have not yet made up my mind to gelcoat or paint...the only place that I could see from the inside was the large dark spot...that is the place that I had delaminating glass when I was grinding on the inside...so weak it was flaking on the outside...I did put some glass down on the inside over that spot...don't tell me I have to get under the deck!
Nice job on the flip Troop ! Everyone still in one piece , No boat damage , thats a good day !!:)

Thanks SP...it was uneventful...I can take that :)
Awesome job on the flip...congrats to the flippin crew! Well done...

Well by now you are pretty much an expert in glassing, so those cracks should be no problem...

I hope they shouldn't be too bad, and thanks GT...

We're not gunna panic yet! Let's do some acetone wipe down and clean up around those area and get a better look and go from there. I will say it woulda been nice to have known they were there before the deck went down. Not to say they can't be effectively repaired from the outside. We'll just have to see what some grinding and probing brings to light.

that one seems solid...it sat right on a roller there...I'll go out tomorrow and do some cleaning ...see if I can't get some better pics for you...and test the spots for hard/softness...

Not liking the looks of this....

Used my thumb nail to pick this up...

Used a screw driver to pick up some more...this roving is soaking wet.....

I assume I need to do this big repair before sanding and fairing can commence?

Thats a pretty bad looking spot Troop does the woven feel solid or just wet. And I guess there,s no way to get to it from the inside now ?
I guess just grind the edges back good and multi layers of glass ? Not sure what else can be done at this point..
You.ll get it figured out and patched in no time i,m sure..

Brutha Troop,

great job on the massive hull flip! I would do all the glass work before sanding a fairing...

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Thanks bruthas...just in a bad mood this morning I guess...

After initial grinding...I was afraid to go any deeper...though there should be 1708 on the other side of this area...
DSC01329.jpg

more prep...and an acetone wash...the brown area towards top is still seeping water...that dark spot in center doesn't look to good either...
DSC01330.jpg

I really think this is just the results of a poor patch job...looked like bondo, not resin....the dark stuff...the roving is delaminating still... It covers almost the whole side too...so just going to take it a little further out and let it go...

will use the plastic template method to get 3 or 4 layers of CSM cut to fit...then lay it up after it sets in sun for awhile to dry...but I have to hurry....rain this afternoon!

Troop noice work on the flip. I do hope the patch work goes as smooth that one spot doesn't look promising but looks are decieving @ times Just remember where theres a will theres a way and you have shown that your capable of both.

Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

It was all Dry...Right???? Any 1708??

Ya I ground out what was wet.....I never made it to the 1708...the roving that was showing was still strong...must have been some sort of stranded glass they used under it..that is what was flaking the worst...also I did not put any 1708 down on this..think I should have? I can always grind it out again...
