Nice job rick a perfect example of how easy it is if you take your time and have clean and organized work space with a throughly cleaned carb to work with all which is esential to help aid in the success of a re-build. Would make a nice sticky addition !

Now that's good news glad to hear of the progress. I'd like to see some pic's and whats the plan for deck coating? And did you re-inforce the area for seating or did I miss that ?

Here is the 3/4" ply that is under the 5/8" ply deck.....should be able to anchor the seat pedestal to that. :)

The deck will be gel-coat with anti skid then a snap in carpet for when were not fishing.....

Here are some pics of the deck. Where the deck met the hull we used some spray foam to fill the void then PB. 8" tape used around edges and all joints in plywood. Entire deck also has one coat of just resin. Still need to add a layer of 1708 biax and finishing veil, then gelcoat. Sounds like a piece of cake... right!!! The end is in sight :)

Looks great Rick & Rob nice to have a clean slate to work with. I'm sure the gel coated deck will look great.

Yes the original deck was 5/8"

Hey Rick,
Not that it really matters but the original deck for yours and mine was 1/2ply. This is from the Four Winns factory specs. They used additional 1/2 pieces under the seat area. These peices stretched from the outter to inner stringer. It was to support standing in front of the seat. The seat area had an additional piece of 1/2 ply but it was on top of the deck and glassed over. The deck was covvered from factory with 2 layers of 1.5 mat after being tabbed in around all edges. Maybe this helps. Great thread

Hmmmm well the 5/8" ply I put down matched the existing deck height.... There was no 1/2" ply under my seat pedestals glassed in.....just the deck..... under the deck where my seats bolted was 3/4" ply. Really doesn't matter at this point the deck is done :D

I wouldn't build the boat the way Four Winns did anyway.... My was is much better and stronger.....building a better mouse trap I guess ;)

I have been feeling that same way. Four Winns makes a good boat but there are a lot of things I would do different or beef up. The deck will be one of them. Hell, maybe mine is 5/8 as well. It looked like 1/2 but I will have to measure it. Either way I am sure I will go with 5/8 as well. You said it right, "building a better mouse trap". Thanks Stefan
