Lil Buggy,

First let me say I just spent the morning reading you're entire thread and HOLY CRAP are the two words I come up with, LOL.... Love everything you have done and it's looking AMAZING!!! :) I bet you can't wait to get it in and be out there!!!

I actually had a few questions for you, I am looking at putting RGB strips in the seating area but they are spread across the boat. Where did you get you're kit from and how did you splice them but yet reconnect them a few feet away?? I have never worked with them before so it's a learning experience LOL!!!

Great job man, I can't wait to see some pics of it in the water!!! :)

welcome aboard kylejb,
i apretiate the kind words and feed off of them:D
glad to have ya checkin in. and thanks for takin the time to read my story.
i was almost gonna buy 2 (red/white dome led's) at 99 cheeseburgers each till i found cc's thread. glad i found it for sure
i got a few things for you to check out.
criscraft254's refurb thread,, is what got me interested in the rgb's in the first place. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=483913

i am sure you'll like his rgb led thread he started a few weeks ago, lots of info there, you will certainly understand more and cool pics as well
http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=544182

this is the set i purchased

i ordered mine thru amazon, prices there kinda jump around but aren't bad at all
http://www.amazon.com/Waterproof-Changing-LED-Lighting-Strip/dp/B0054U46Y2/ref=pd_sim_hi_2
they are 12 volt and come with a converter for home use. i cut the powercord between the black box and the lil barrel thingy, and attatched to a switch(not needed but i do like) to the power wire, then to the fuse block. the - i ran right to the fuseblock-.
the lights are all run by 4 wires black(common ground),R(red),G(green), B(blue) wires.
on my particular set. it was easier to attach a 3 led section right to the white thingy((ir controller) =light under the dash wireing)) then i cut it and used a connecter
http://www.amazon.com/LED-Strip-Connector-Conductor-Jumper/dp/B004Q8OBWK/ref=pd_sim_hi_2

connecter end, you just peel back a lil of the sillycone from the end of the strip and open the connecter end and push the peeled back section into the connecter under the fingers put a dab of sillycone on it, then close the connecter. i then cut the connecter halfway between the ends and spliced some, 4 wire, color coded
http://www.amazon.com/Conductor-Wir...ref=sr_1_6?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1335847413&sr=1-6
412Uoh1pmBL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

soldered and heatshrunk. to the run.(note; you can use telephone extension wire from the dollar store, only 1 color will be different, and it will be in a protective sleeve) ran my wire over to the next area and then spliced, (soldered and heatshrunk) the other half of the connecter on. open the clip and repeat, slide the next light section in etc.... really a verrrrrry easy job. not much electrical experience needed. and if you boat at night,,,, it will do more for your interior than your,,,, aaaahhh interior,,,,bahahaha.

cheap and you'll love em.
i got an extra set to light up the cabin,,, next led update after i get her wet, and try out them underwaters

i hope this helps, any questions dont hesitate to ask
and again welcome aboard,

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

got the one side done and waxed, i am beat,,, the big dog buffer worked ok but i ended up using the pads from my lil one because i couldnt find the snap onpads anywhere, come to find out you can only get them on line:(.
i almost got down past the scratches the other pad left the other day, and it the pad flew apart! yikes the bonnett made it like 20 yards, pieces of the pad almost decapitated me,lol apparently the heat was building in the pad and heated the glue that holds the reversable pad together. really, i didn't think it would heat up so much, the stud that holds the pad on was severly hot. duh:facepalm:. anyway my bud stopped by and offered up a better one, but i declined, i didn't wana break anything else, bahahaha. so i went back to, slow but sure, takes a ton of extra time but i won't cause damage like i did the other day.
so all in all the 3m and my lil buffer did great. it almost got the red down to the fresher square, the admiral couldn't even find it,, shaweet. i put a coat of wax on the whole side and besides acetoning the rubrail and detailing the trim, side 1 is in the books finally, and i am beat.

i think i'll finish side 2 in the slip ( as i am getting impatient) so on to the nonskid after work tomorrow. also, i hope to get her ready for splash and some electrical work on thursday with pop. seems like a tall order considering the slow progress lately, wish me some luck

we got to the marinas ramp after dark but got her in anyways. my idle was bouncing around a bit, but she was running smooth, cool and quiet. i'll have the mechanic come by and tweak it some tomorrow. the boats been thru alot since i had her on the water last year. glad i didn't chuck it.t

the beaver river is dead calm, hard to believe its may and at summer levels allready. first night trip in the books. and shes waiting patiently in my slip for my return tomorrow. sweet! thanks guys for the support.:D:D

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

^^^^^^ thanks mustang,
it does feel great that the season starts for me. funny, the first night is always filled with worries. did i turn this off and shut that kinda thing.
i am stoked to get back to her today, and with my pop too BONUS.

the plan today is;

1 to rewire the tv outlet and tie it in with the fridge connection, so it works well on the hook or underway.
2 secure the tv to the bathroom bulkhead
3 finalize the rgb install and hide all the wires.
4 drill the holes needed for the fishfinder mount
5 play around with the cabin loacation for the second set of rgb's
6 enjoy dads company, and take him for a nice calm boat ride and burn some of those 4.5 hurs left till oil change

funny now that she's wet i feel like all is right with the world,,,lol,,, yesterday i was feeling frustrated over that red stripe and the hours and hours of buffing that was done.

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

thanks guys,
it feels great to have her waiting on me at the slip. not a whole lot of them in yet but all the cruisers are startin to show up, fisherman eaverywhere.

i had a great day with pop and a productive one.
we got at it quickly. we chose to mount the fishfinder in the center under the windshield, most cockpit seats can see it clearly. we got a b n w 5 in screen with good resolution.

we got the rgb's started for the final install had to go thru most of the wireing on the dash to figure out what was what. drilled lots of holes,,it was kinda tuff working in the head and between bulkhead walls for the first set of the led's above the cabin doors. that part was a lil tougher than i expected, however they are all running on 12 volt only,,, no shorepower needed,,,,sweeeet

on to the tv,,, it is swivel mounted in same space on head bulkhead above the little shelf. we were gonna pull the fridge and tie in the shorepower only output to the dc fridge hookup. it was getting complicated so we stopped by autozone and picked up a small inverter for like 20 cheeseburgers , and hooked it up to the stereo hot wire violla it is done. we added a switch before the inverter/and radio, to make sure we could isolate all the draws. with the lil dinky antenna we got 5 channells in the slip,,, wooo all running 12 volt.
shaweeeeeet

we cleaned up alot of wires and respliced many for longevity and trouble free future, along the way.
since i put it in the idle was too low so i made the call and the mechanic was there in 15 min's adjusting the idle and the fuel air mixture.
she purrs like a kitten now,,

we were hungry so decided to take pop to a new marina just opened in feb. they are kicken but and have sweet curtousy docks( with shorepower hookups) food was great and time with dad priceless.
heres me and the boat at the curtousy docks

after linner( lunch dinner) we decided to take a slow cruise ,,,, mount up fellas:D
