welcome aboard Ciera,
thanks for stoppin by,
do you remember how your L looked before you ripped it out? also did it have that funny piece thats giving me a hard time?
i would love to put a flipflop seatback there so i could more easily look out the stern. i do envy all that room that removing that L created for you tho.
with all the other stuff goin on i didn't wana get into the upholstry:eek:

The L set up I had was almost identical to yours. The part that juts out was made of wood covered in vinyl just like yours.
I'm not sure which piece your talking about that is giving you trouble???

I actually still have the base of that L portion in my shed. (the wood part covered in vinyl with the storage area). From your pictures, what you have there looks very very similar. I can tear into mine to explore things for ya if needed. I don't plan on using it.

thanks ciera,
i'd appretiate it. anyways heres the lil piece

not sure if that 1/2 in piece on top of the box was originally there or what. it looks like it goes under the cushion above the fiberglass piece(that you left behind). if you look at the side view above(previous post #37), it looks like it attatches to the back of the cusion there. my issue is that the lip that creates on the right tapers to flush on the left.
not sure if i am makin sense here or not.

i will prolly have to tear into it and see how its all together anyway, to be able to make a even reveal for upgrade

thanks for the support

Looks to me that angled piece shouldn't be like that. Is it the bottom support for the cushion to sit on? Is there storage in there?

agreed,
something changed i believe the last time the upholstry was done.
could have had rot and the upholsterer just cut the bad stuff and pushed the panel back and sewed it up:mad:
the pic of the end of the L shows that the board attatches to the seatbase and is sewn into the seatback
post #37

i believe it is seat support and there is a big box for storage accsessable from the rear engine area behind the seat
that thing that has me confused is the thing just looks unnatural, just (looks) jammed under the long part of the L
it certainly could have that design however i dont think that the lip would have been designed with a tapered reveal
note; suprisingly, you dont feel the difference at all when sitting on that seat

i guess i could add a lil piece of trim on the whole inside of the L to make it all the same level
but my fear is that it will draw more attention to the wierd piece as well as stick out aswell

seems inevitable, i guess i gotta dig a lil deeper and start to remove the long L cushion so i can find out where they changed it.and fix it right.
i guess i am :eek:scarred:facepalm: of messing up the vinyl. it's not in the budget!

anyone know how they attatch the cushions down, they dont just lift up.
and all my :eek:monkeyfur in the cabin is in a-1 condition

thanks in advance

If you can gain access to that area of cushion from underneath, look for screws to remove the cushion. I bet it is screwed from underneath.

thanks,
its wide open under the box it shouldn't be a problem there. on the other hand the longer section on the gunwhale is over the aft cabin,,,
you guessed it monkeyfur,,lol ( but i swear its at least clean ;))

now that you got me thinkin, if i remove the screws under the box i should be able to lift up the cushion enough to see whats goin on with that or even slide it back to even reveal.:D
wish me luck, i dont think i'll be at the boat till tues afternoon, hope for some nice weather for me.

Mine wasn't angled like that....
It was just a rectangular piece of wood covered in vinyl. I suppose if you can access the area, maybe you could cut it square and recover in the white vinyl.

btw, the piece on my boat was screwed from above into the storage "box". You could see the screws when the cushion was removed. However, the back rest was mounted on top of the piece your talking about, so in your case, maybe you could loosen it enough to lift it slightly and do your repairs.

thanks,
do you remember how the bottom cushion is attatched to that board? was there nuts etc. holding that board down?

ohhh, i think i know what you mean there. that piece is a lil sloppy in there(little loose in the pic). sounds like a plan is forming

Glad to help sir! The bottom cushion of the "L" on mine was only velcro'd and buttoned down. Beneath it you could see the screws where that board was screwed to the base part. no nuts, only a couple screws. lol that just made me chuckle

no nuts:eek:, i mean:D
a chuckle and a sigh for sure. if the weathers right i should be able to dig in a little tomorrow afternoon
i pictured the cushion being bolted thru the offending board thru the fiberglass and burried in the monkeyfur:facepalm: in the aft cabin, my worst fear. thanks for giving a lil hope. i'll let you know what i find.

you gettin anything done?

Thought I'd take a peek at your thread to better understand the bay-rinker case - which is apparently something from x-files... truly weird how much alike they are... My cushions are velcro-o-od down, no snaps, no evidence of screws... Don't have the funny lip under the peninsula of the "L" that you have, my peninsula does not have a back - the seat bottom is the lid to the storage bin... something I will change, I kinda like the "L" and I have small children, so it will help coral them when underway... This may be too late, but for your interior to the hull lighting, did you look at fiber optics? They have some now that illuminates all along the length, kind of like flexible neon tubes - and it is capable of some impressive light output. I'm knocking around one continuous run from outside the hull to stern to cockpit to cabin - they also come with dimmable color changer light sources that can be tucked away - it would eliminate any light pools and be very easy to install in even the narrowest of places with a clear adhesive, my guess is that it would be virtually invisible when not powered up... Just my two cents, and probably a tad bit late....

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

welcome aboard fellow bal,,,inker, lol
glad to have you stop by.
thanks for the info on the seat.got any pics? i am interested in your set up.

the problem i have with the L besides that funny lil shingled part of the seat, is thats its a pita to move around (real nice when burnin the fuel tho) lol.

i do alot of fishing and am dreaming of the flip back on the L with a leg support that flips up into a lounge so i can relax back and watch the rods out the back and enjoy a cool one in the easy chair:D but i fear that dream is for next year

anyways i did buy the lightstrip once and got the wrong ones, i havent placed my order on the second sets yet but for the price i cant beat it( ill send you a link)
i can hopefully get the underwaters installed tomorrow, with the new fish pinger and try to figure out that shingled piece aswell.
wish me some luck and hope for some headway, if i make any i'll be sure to post some pics

it's never too late keep em coming:D
