thanks for the placement help chriscraft 254:D it worked out nicely.
i still got some tweaking to do, over the shiny:facepalm: cabin doors i will put a L channel to hide them a little better. i will leave them tho, they light up the step to the cabin quite nicely.

in my venture tonight i think i figured out how to address that funny little board on the L seat,,woooo
i really cant wait to get her wet and get some pics with the underwaters:cool:
i still got alot of greasy aggrevation to clean up in the cockpit, however i got a few feet leftover from the first string of rgb's, as well as another set that will be going down below:D

hope everyone had a good day today

really thanks for the inspiration as well,,them things are stupid cool and a welcome addition.
also i gotta add i really liked using the jumpers, they made the install real easy. i still gotta finish up with soldered connections and heatshrink, and have some things to address but big grin for sure:D

hope everyone has a great day

The jumpers you used, are they just a snap lock type deal? Or do you need to solder the pins to the lights before the cover goes over it?

they are snaplock but the led strip fits against spring like fingers and the backside.
i gotta cut the grass i'll catchup in a few hours and post some detailed pics note; there seems to be different connecters for different string makes, not sure but i did see a difference

allright i just realized i dont take good pictures, lol

anyway the waterproof ones i got are humped in the middle with some kind of silicone tapered to the edges,
ledconnecters040412001.jpg

sorry its blurry
in order to use the jumpers you gotta peel 1/4 in of the stuff off. then the strip is ready like i was saying in the previous post. the strip then fits tight in a groove in the jumper. then under the 4 springtype fingers. you push in till it meets the contacts. then i put a dab of silicone and close the connecter lid which has a few grabbers to keep it all in place. no solder on the connection whatsoever. however when i finished a light piece i used a jumper than cut the wires and spliced, soldered and heatshrunk the 4wire run, than splice to other side of jumper to the next set of lights. no wasted pieces lol
heres the best attempt at a closeup

i was happy to use the jumpers if not my blind self woulda still been soldering,,lol
i hope it helps

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

Thanks for posting the pics, I thought that is how they went together but it is hard to tell by the pics on sleazebay. ;) Think I'm going to order a few of these. I think a large shrnk wrap over the connector couldn't hurt either or atleast some electrical gel. I have found that solder joints like to corrode pretty quik on the soldr joints I had made, this will clean that up.

Thankyou Sir!:)

Still waiting on the second controller and box to get here, so maybe these will get here in time.

By the way, your light strip look great, they look to be like the ones I originally bought, the white strip I posted a while back. There probably a better quality than the ones I put in the bow area.

 shish, now i am nervous.
when you soldered yours did you put anything on it? i was a little worried about corrosion, thats why i put the silicone on the jumpers, i was also thinking that if i put too much silicone in the jumper it would displace the fingers, so i tried to not overload,( so far so good, day 2,lol) i wasn't really thinkin at all about the wire splice, maybe ill put a lil silicone on my solder splices before the heatshrink? thoughts?

not so sure prolly about the same, 6 in one hand,,,lol
just by peeling the ends off, i think if you bend them around too much you will get some space between the strip and the silicone covering.

in any event i am stoked :Dfor you being ready for thunder,, weather permitting.
make sure you get pics, lol

p.s. i thought i did a big no no. i was playing with photobucket trying to organize a lil bit.
and i got nervouse that the ones i organized would fry the lightshow:facepalm: and switched back.
so far so good. wish me luck

The light strips that I ordered last time are resin incased. They are a little more stiff than the silocone incased ones. I like that style better. The white ones I have are like yours. Will probably replace the resin ones, plus I am seeing some cloudyness in the light strips that I removed. Will keep everyone posted.

You should be good to go with the silocone in the connectors and if you heat shrink the wire splices, you should be just fine.

Do you have any connectors left? I can order them cheap, but shipping from you would be quiker. I figure you probably have a lot left over if you ordered the strip to strip connectors and cut them in half. I would be more than happy to pay for the connectors and shipping if you have some. If not, no biggie, i will get them on order.;)

And no, when I soldered mine, i failed even though I had great intentions, I faialed to silcone or protect the solder splices to the strip. All my other wiring on the boat gets heat shrinked but I had these little silcone end caps for the light strips that basically did nothing to protect from corrosion.

Looking forward to thunder, but it will depend on weather water and if I have the time to get finished before then. Hope so.

i like the idea of the resin. i noticed that mine were fresh,,lol and a little tacky the more i touched them,,,you get the picture.
and thanks for the comforting thought, i guess the heatshrink should do it's job.

as far as the connecters go,, i planned cutting them in half and i added the section above the cabin doors, so that took the extra one.
i got 2 left for strips inside the cabin, and one lightstrip to split into 2 plus an extra 3 ft piece that i am not sure of yet,lol
that leaves the 5 i promised to pop for his cloud room project. sorry man:(

if i had extra ones they would be yours and i woulda shipped them for free(thanks for all your advice)
funny amazonian they were a half a cheeseburger a pice like $5, 3day ship and i chewed my nails over it, lol. i shoulda bought another few dozen, hindsight is 2020
learn from my mistake and buy wayy to many if you purchase them.
who knows i may need a few when i do the cabin,

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

I kinda liked the idea of the resin to, but I'm telling you, I really like the silocone ones better. the first ones I got from rob were in a silocone sleeve I could have pulled the whole strip out of the sleeve If I wanted to. But the white ones that I got at a much later date, after he had changed his supplier were the silocone incased ones, very nice, just like your rgb's. I think the resin ones are questionable. I will post some pics of the spots I am talking about on them. I am going to install them, because I want to see how long they last, but i'm not impressed with the quality so far.

No problem, i ordered a set of five connectors with the connectors on both ends so I will have ten total for connecting up the lights I have now, that should be plenty by my count. They cost me like $3.50 shipped. Coming from honk kong of coarse, lol And people wonder why companies go overseas!!! We couldn't ship an empty envelope for the total cost of the product being shipped here. Crazy!

Anyway, the light strips came pretty quikly but I am still waiting on a controller. tracking says its in new york, so should be here in the next day or two. Hopefully the connectors won't take forever. If they do, I guess I will be soldering.
