I have the dash cut out of the four winns, so everything is hooked up for easy tracking later.

I have a question here. This steering wheel hub needs to be pulled, so I can get the helm off out the back of the dash. Does anyone have experience pulling this type of steering wheel hub off? Do I use a 3 jaw puller? Any help is appreciated!

That appears to be a Rotary System with a keyed shaft. Put the nut back on, spray a lot of WD40 on it, us a block of wood and BF Hammer and commence to BEAT the HE Hockey Sticks out of it. Might need a little heat too! She'll pop loose eventually.:joyous:

Thanks Wood "BFH" HAHAHAHA I Love it!!!!:laugh: If that don't work get a bigger "BFH". I didn't want to beat it up too much and risk damaging the helm, so I found a three jaw puller. The puller jaws were too large to fit behind the hub and in front of the plastic cover. I had the piece of angle laying around from a shelving leg, and cut a slot out.

I used a balancer puller try and pull the hub off.

I should have tried that to start with as i worked good.

The main deal here is to get this plastic cover off to expose the bolts, so I can get helm disconnected from the dash. Now that the wheel hub is off I have to figure out how the plastic cover comes off without breaking it. The cover has two little pegs it attaches to, and I did put a little crack in it, but I think it's reusable.

Note to self!!!! Put a piece of tape on the hole to keep the bees out!!!!!:doh: I was out on the water enjoyin the day mindin my own bidness and the swarm of yellow jackets flyes up my shorts!! OOOoooopsey!!!

This is the concealed control box and cables I removed from the four winns a few weeks ago. I hope to reuse all these parts on the Aerocraft!!

Nice work, SBB. You do know someone stole your lower unit though, right? :D

Today the sun is shining, and I don't have to move snow, so it's a great Saturday morning!!! I have made a key acquisition. I picked up a used, but complete lower unit for the Evinrude. I hope to disassemble this gear case, and utilize the parts along with the basket case that I have to build a usable unit. We will see how that goes!

Hope everyone has a good weekend! :smow:

It's been a heck of a winter and I am happy to be warming up! A little update here. I have the gear case entirely disassembled and I have everything, I think I need, to put it back together. I also have been cutting up the rotted out 4winns. I will post up some pics soon.

Happy spring peeps!!!:cheerful::tan:
