Yeah, Miami does not have enough Cubans......;)
I want to see the 'Anchor Baby' loophole go away!.....

Me too!

I'd also like to see a law that says if you are illegally in this country & get caught, that you will be immediately deported & can never apply for citizenship or re-enter this country......;)

Dunno about makin' it too hard on 'em Bro. I would just not give 'em permenant immeadiate legal status, n' there should be some encouragement to come forward out of the shadows, with lots o' hurdles n' fines n' such to get to the end o' the line after those who never broke our laws can stand in front of said line. Don't ya think?

And it will stop being a mess when the Iraqis decide they want the mess to stop, and not before.
Sorry about the late reply PW2, I challenged you, so I should respond, but was gone over the weekend. I don't think you answered my question about what was more noble (AKA good) leaving or staying . . . Can I assume from your note above that the disposition of the people (average Ira Iraqi) who have no say in what the "Iraqis" do is inconsequential?

Re: Alberto Gonzales: iboats No Confidence Poll

there is no "noble" path left to us in Iraq. Might as well stop pretending it is about our "nobility". I think we never should have gone. I think that now that we are there, we are stuck adn can't leave for a variety of reasons, some rational and some based purely on pride and hubris.

Oh, and about Gonzales.... get him out of there!

If any "liberal" "democrat appointed" AG were pulling this stuff, the repubs would have the same kind of lynch mobs together, and with good reason.

If I remember correctly, the lynch mobs were out in force, and nobody ever heard ME defending her...

What amazes me is that any of you guys are defending gonzales. Partisan politics and positioning aside, there is not much to defend.

I always post the same thing . . . there aint no stinkin' rewind button. Pretty simple if you think that way. I vote yes on WW2, Yes on Korea, No on Vietnam, and maybe on Irag  Hindsight is meaningless ;)

I'm not talking about hindsight. That was foresight as well for me and many other americans. I'm not looking for a rewind, I am just making it clear that I was NEVER in favor of this war, not originally in favor of it, but now want out. Almost all of the reasons for opposing the war BEFORE it started have now materialized. And I remember all too well how anyone who wasn't for the war before it started were trashed on as traitors.

Sorry, my statement was most definitely NOT hindsight or an after-the-fact change of heart.

And I can also admit that there are many rational and practical reasons why we cannot just up and walk out of there now. And that, my friends, is what ticks me off most about this war. America was all too willingly BSed and falsely led into this war which there was no reasonable way to win, no clear objectives and a very high probability of getting stuck long term with a big expensive mess on our hands which we cannot now get out of. I think the administration knew this in advance and went ahead anyway because of their own big picture american empire agenda. This is exactly what many people oposed to this war were saying from the beginning.

Oh, and just to keep it on topic, Dump Gonzales! ;)

This only goes to show that 53% of Iboats members would vote in favor of the devil himself if supported by "W" and he was a registered Republican!

Hmmmm, I'm in major dissagreement with both of ya. What would you have done JbJennings, bought a prayer rug n' waved a white flag? Or would ya follow Sen Obama's lead n' put everything we had in Afganistan n' invade Pakistan? Or maybe bomb Saudi Arabia? BTW: Is this just a bumper sticker? Self discribed Republican eh? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I say. JR

Re: Alberto Gonzales: iboats No Confidence Poll

I wouldn't have invaded Iraq. If I had all this info about WMD's I simply would allow Israel to take care of the problem-- they'd be glad to. We didn't go to Iraq to stop terrorists, but now that seems to be gw's excuse. I expect the president to make informed decisions, and if that information is the best that his guys can do, then shame on all of them. What do you think we are accomplishing over there? Now we are trying to sell 20 billion dollars in high-tech weapons to Saudi Arabia. Did you ever look at how many of the 9-11 attackers were from Iraq? How about Saudi Arabia? That's a Hmmmmm I'd like you to ponder. By the way, we're at least in firm agreement on the gun control issue. You're right, I'm getting further and further from the repub. party but not any closer to the dems. What about McCain-Feingold? Was it Bill or GW that signed that one into law? I really don't know-- you tell me. What about GW sealing up the borders as he was sworn to do when he swore to uphold the constitution? What about deporting all those folks who are here on expired visa's and pay closer attention on who we're letting in our country. I don't feel the war in Iraq has stopped terrorism at all. As for those dope smugglers that got shot-- I don't know the whole story. maybe you're right and they are bad cops.

Wow, a "Republican" who voted fer the Vet has sooooooooo much power ya can make Israel do what ya want? Purdy kool crystal ball ya have I say!

We didn't go to Iraq to stop terrorists, but now that seems to be gw's excuse.

Sure we did. Ever heard of Abu Nadal? How 'bout Abu Musab al-Zarqawi? The $25,000.00 fer homicide bombers? WTC boom boom in 1993? The 727 fuselage jus' fer practice? Ya been napin' r smokin' again?

I expect the president to make informed decisions, and if that information is the best that his guys can do, then shame on all of them. What do you think we are accomplishing over there?

An election, a Cornstatution, Sadam is gone, ta name a few minor things.

Now we are trying to sell 20 billion dollars in high-tech weapons to Saudi Arabia. Did you ever look at how many of the 9-11 attackers were from Iraq? How about Saudi Arabia? That's a Hmmmmm I'd like you to ponder.

I've pondered it a bit, there are 1.2 Billion members of the "Religion o' Peace", some still use the same tactics they have used for nearly 1500 years. They want all of us dead whether ya drink move on . org flavored Kool aid or not. They can be found in most Countries on this particular planet. Ya wanna bomb London too? I guess ya better move ta Mars then.

By the way, we're at least in firm agreement on the gun control issue. You're right, I'm getting further and further from the repub. party

Finally a li'l truth here. We like to call spades: spades here on DC. Stop calling yerself a "Republican" when yer spoutin' nothin' but move on . org talkin' points!

but not any closer to the dems.

Did ya vote fer the Vet?

What about McCain-Feingold? Was it Bill or GW that signed that one into law? I really don't know-- you tell me.

Gee, I guess it was Mickey Mouse! Yer point?????

What about GW sealing up the borders as he was sworn to do when he swore to uphold the constitution?

Show me that section Please. I missed it! Ya like to make up things ya think is in the Cornstatution??? Kinda like Dems n' Libs do. Did ya vote fer the Vet?

What about deporting all those folks who are here on expired visa's and pay closer attention on who we're letting in our country.

This President has done more then any since the early 1970s. Read a lil' please.

I don't feel the war in Iraq has stopped terrorism at all.

OH really?? Have we been pounded here since 9/11/2001? Maybe ya can tell me a long list of wars were both sides don't escalate matters once first blood is spilled? Do you have even a clue about ANY HISTORY or are ya jus' smokin' dope n' drinkin' move on Kool aid, n' nappin from time to time?????????

As for those dope smugglers that got shot-- I don't know the whole story. maybe you're right and they are bad cops.

Re: Alberto Gonzales: iboats No Confidence Poll

I've never been to this "moveon.org" website you're talking about but with the way things are going, the dems are getting so much fuel for their fire lately that if they had anyone with half of a brain they would humiliate every republican candidate with possibly the exception of Juliani without breaking a sweat. Are you so afraid of admitting any mistakes on the rep. part that you make this kind of attack on anyone with my point of view or am I just special? By the way, the news I am seeing is that the "elected" guys over in Iraq are constantly getting whacked by their own people and while our soldiers are over there dying the Iraqi "government" is on summer vacation. Sorry I'm not impressed with their progress so far. Hopefully, I've got it as wrong as you say and our country is in better shape than I think it is.
