I was fishing with no bait, veritas honus. I didn't want to be bothered....Kimi hooked up on some nice fish (snook, trout) but we couldn't get them to the boat. As soon as they jumped, they got off. That's not like her to miss fish like that.

Where I'm from, we've got a fish in the seatrout family called "weakfish." The name is in reference to the lip and mouth. They taste great, and put up a really good fight. You can't muscle them too much, or you'll lose the fish; you've got to either net or gaf them. If you pull them out of the water by the hook and line, the lip and mouth will just tear, and you'll lose the fish by the time the tail leaves the water, in most cases. One tends to catch more when using bait, though.

...But I like your theory.

On a side note to Fireman. I recieved a call this AM from a guy that wants his boat in the Brittish West Indies starting at the end of the month. I need to get Amusement to Nettles and I'm free for a cruise. I would like to plan for 2-3 weeeks on making this trip. I need a mate (helper/co-captain). Think about it and talk it over with your family. I would like to have you along. Deal will be finalized by next weekend. I will get in touch once I make the commitment.

On a side note to Fireman. I recieved a call this AM from a guy that wants his boat in the Brittish West Indies starting at the end of the month. I need to get Amusement to Nettles and I'm free for a cruise. I would like to plan for 2-3 weeeks on making this trip. I need a mate (helper/co-captain). Think about it and talk it over with your family. I would like to have you along. Deal will be finalized by next weekend. I will get in touch once I make the commitment.

I appreciate you thinking of me! I would love to do it. Let me talkto the family and see if I can break away from the upholstery shop for that long. The shop I can probably work around. Let me see what Stick has to say about this...

Couple of questions, tho. Do I need a passport? I'll need specific dates ASAP. What about return trip home?

Yea, these winds & rain seem like they came from nowhere! It started pouring here Friday at noon and just stopped for a bit (it's Sunday morning). I can't wait to see how muchthe river and lakes fill up from this.

Hope Amusement faired well throughout the mess. That's a pretty solid CC. I'm sure it's seen worse and faired just as well. At least it has a Captain who cared enough to check on it!

Still in the planning stages...glad you're still interested. 1/2 my group took off to the island for the weekend (Catalina). Everyone's pretty busy around here during the week for a change so we don't have much spare time except on the weekends to get together.

Another member was nice enough to chime in on the BVI thread, and they have some experience there so It'll be nice to be able to tap some info from them. I'm still hoping to iron everything out by T-giving and have some reservations set.

All looks like a go at this point, Fireman. Been talking to the owner this week and the 61' Viking will be here Tuesday, depending on the offshore conditions.between NJ and here. I have a meeting with the delivery captain and will call you when I have some plans.

Actually I'm going to BWI...Brittish West Indies.....Turks and Caicos Islands. I've spent many months there in the past and have some friends there. I met him thru my old bossman. If I take the job, I will be there till April and have to give up the "Amusement" job. I think I have proven I can't handle a landlubber job at this time, sorry to say, was enjoying it for awhile......Anyways, talk to you soon.

We are Texas bound on 10/19-23.. Our mid-kid is graduating from the Air Force basic training. I need to know if a passport is required as I don't have one and don't know how long it takes to get one, but I can look into it.

Yup, Fireman, gonna need a passport to return to the US......if you plan too. I won't really know anything till Tuesday, or maybe after. It's blowing like stink out of the east the last couple days. I havn't been to the beach to check out the waves yet. Headed that way now. Be talking to you soon.
