If you own or want to buy a multi speed polisher and polishing compounds, and don't mind a few hours of work every year, then you can polish your aluminum and keep it looking like chrome, BUT.... It demands your attention. It will NOT stay like that on its own.

Man o Man.....I've never seen a tinny clean up that nicely....you are doing a fantastic job. When you get to the water everyone will think she came right off the showroom floor.

I couldn't believe it came that clean either. My original plan to paint it white almost seems like a crime now. I was in Kelly's thread today (while supposed to be working) and saw someone mention Shark Hide. After going to their site I found myself reaching for the credit card but wondered how practical an idea it was. I don't mind a few hours a season in maintenance and the boat can always be painted if I change my mind later. Pure tin it is. Oh, and sorry for wasting your tax dollars dreaming about the boat all day... but you guys started this!! :)

Ummm, as a taxpayer, knowing that I'm techinically your boss, I guess I'll need to transfer you to Florida to do some work on my project!
Keep it clean man, keep it clean. Like you said, the worst thing that could happen is you change your mind next year after going a season with it shiny and paint it. This way, you'll eliminate the "what I would've just....." thoughts that will fill your head!

Some guys here are reporting good luck removing that glue using MEK soaked rags.

MichaelP, I did the MEK soaked rags last night and that *#%$#! cement came off the side walls easily! I highly recommend it to anyone trying to remove this stuff. Dude, I owe you and THANK YOU. I also owe the wife a couple bath towels so Babe if you're reading this... it's Mike's fault.

Anytime Keel! Like I said, an open invite. When I'm done I'll call you and we'll fire her up together.

I will gladly transfer Boss! Ironically, the wife and I have been tossing the idea around the past year. We're tired of the long winters. Hey Boss, I need a raise too!!

Boatguy, I have a long way to go to catch you. I'm actually using alot of info. from your thread as a playbook for my project. I plan on casually drifting behind you until you're on the water. I'm cutting floors this weekend and just incase you're thinking of tossing the template in the trash...FedEX or fax it to me. :) By the way it looks great.

Yeah, it's shameful throwing you under the bus like that Mike. I think it's the training I've recieved at work that made me crack so easily. I wonder if Wikileaks is hiring.

:D Don't follow too close, or you'll be in big trouble . I'm hoping to be on the water pretty soon, but it could be 2012 if I really start slackin'. I could defiantly send you my old deck, I don't want to know what the shipping would be though...:D I still have it, not sure what I'm going to do with it. Maybe make a nice fire for Memorial day.

Nice work on that stripper and with the MEK.

PS I was referring to the paint stripper in case someone is going to take that out of context.

Thanks, it was reading the restore threads that got me this far, that and the private messages to EZ. By the end of this project EZ may list me as a dependant on next years taxes.

PS. Any stripper that performs well is worth the money.

PSS. I was referring to the MEK too Sprintst :)
