Re: Boating for less than $2000
1972 Fish and Ski, 1972 Evinrude 65 hp Trailer and all $175.00
Replaced Upholstery $65+Gas money (neighbor has an industrial sewing machine agreed to recover the seats if she and her daughter got to go out a few times this summer at no charge).
$250.00 misc parts lower unit was taking in water didn't realize it
Got a bow mount trolling motor, anchor, depth finder, and 2 bank on board charger for $50
Ended up purchasing another Lower unit for the motor $135.00
I bought ALOT of parts I didn't need just to have spares (Hydro electric drive parts kind of tough to come by at a decent price I bought spares when I could get them cheap).
The boat came with a full assortment of life jackets
$50.00 new trailer tires.
Water Ready for $685.00
You can really subtract $175 from that total as because of the extra parts I've bought just to have.
So in actuality I was water ready for $510.00
All though I got an extra motor with the package as well, a 1969 Johnson 55 hp hydro electric drive missing some ignition parts and controls. I will keep looking on ebay to buy the parts for around $80 make it a runner and sell it for $400.00
My Net Total $190.00
She runs 29 mph fully loaded and 35 mph just me and the wife. All of the original Gel Coat is intact and a little faded but other wise perfect. Samples of the transom yielded clean dry shavings everywhere. The floor is still in perfect condition covered by the FACTORY gel coat. The boat sat outside uncovered for 1 week before I got her was garage kept her whole life. She now sits in my barn covered and still protected from the weather.
Oh yeah and I've already been out twice this year. Got her in the dead of winter.
