I find yella being a common boat color even today.. The wife loves em..

I just can't stand the 90's era pink purple and teal interior... What was they thinking back then? Wife pleasing?

Lots of awesome boats on this thread..

I bought this one sight unseen for $500.00 took it home put it in the water. Yeah the interior was THRASHED but it was seaworthy.

It's not stock but I did the interior myself. I really like it.

I put a few hundred in the drive and motor (tune up etc) and it's ugly but runs and floats like a dream

I guess the name is fitting

Looks even better with the windows back in it..

1974 Gulfstream. $1500, but I bought it from family so that taints it a bit. Came with life jackets, skis, towels, bumpers, ropes, and anchor. Put $50 into a carb rebuild kit and some aggravation finding a clogged fuel pickup, and I was on the water. Now, I have spent about another $1000 on accessory upgrades, a leaking upper seal repair, and upgrading the ignition. But I did get on the water for under $2K.

Dude, that color is beautiful. What are you, 25 and have never seen anything but silver cars with earth tone interiors? :) You need to get your 70's on, brother!

/ok, it's a little bright.

Ohhhh yeaaaahhhhh! That's what I call boating, my man. You gotta wear sunglasses out on the water anyway, right?

I'm telling you, you get in that boat, throw on a little Maxine Nightingale,

maybe some Captain and Tennille,

and you have more fun that should be legally allowed.

I'm just a touch over the 2k limit- 2300.00 off C/L. Major-tune up, bellows, some interior , Tighten-up everything, buff, decals, updated trailer with discs and new lines and acuator. I'm a little over 4k into it now.

Well this thread makes me feel better about my price range. I'm finding pontoons in this range but many problems so far.

Re: Boating for less than $2000

I paid 1800 for my 1979 Fiberform Wikiki (Spelling??) w/ a 1984 Mariner 90 hp inline 6. Owner said that there was dirt in the fuel line so wouldn't run above 2500 RPM. Ran it on the hose at his house and noticed that when the idle went down that it stopped pumping water, so I bumped up the idle to get a good flow and then shut it off. Owner said that it didn't need water at an idle. I told him he was wrong, but as easy as it started and as smooth as it ran, I took my chances and took it home. Turned out to be the stator that was sending erratic voltage to #1 and #3. #1 was intermittenly firing above 2500 and #3 just stopped around there as well.

I just took it out today and it runs beautifully. I was considering getting a 115 powerhead, but after pulling skiers, I don't really need to as it has plenty of pulling power. Tops out at 4820 RPM, burning 11.5 GPH at 42 MPH (Just myself in the boat) 39 MPH with 3.

The picture in the water was taken before I used a rubbing compound on it. I don't have a lot of strength in my shoulders from surgeries and don't have a buffer either. Second is after using the rubbing compound on part of the bow. Going to try and get it to really shine this year.

1972 Starcraft 18'SS 120 Mercruiser, did a water trial, ran great, had to put to tires ansd wheels on trailer to bring it home 1600 Kilometers $1600.00. Ran it all last summer, replaced the bellows, shift cable and manifold this winter and she will be good for the season.
Sunday I am picking up 1979 SS18, 85 Evinrude $1500.

Re: Boating for less than $2000

Boat in my Avatar and signature - $2000. It was water ready, as in it didn't sink.

2 used engines -$500
1 rebuilt trans - $400
1 Fuel Tank - $100
5 Qts. hull paint - $75
Redo Exhaust - $200
Cabin Floor - $30 (oak)
Fuel system - $125
Bottom Paint - $360
New Fridge - $180
New Head - $50
Holding tank - Free
Batt Chgr - $200
Water Heater - $75
Replumb Cooling - $50

Probably another $400-$800 in misc here an there. Think I still got a heck of a deal, but I did put A LOT of time into her. About a $4000 Total investment (so far). Still have to plumb up the new head and hot water. Can't wait to actually have a fully function head with hot water and a shower (no more running to the bath house...)
