Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

I'll throw out Sunday October 25, with a 'rain date' of Saturday October 31.
I think for maximum viewing pleasure we need a bright sunny day.
I also think mornings are better for this kind of thing.

Thoughts?

Mornings do sound like a good time to do the trip.

We will be on vacation from 10/24 to 10/31. So if you guys end up doing it during this time, have fun! (We will be back late on the 31st. So if it you decide to do it on the 1st, then we will join, if not, then maybe next year!)

I will keep an eye on the thread to see what is decided.

Thanks Brandon! I am home again today, I'm lucky my wife is my boss. She turned my alarm clock off this morning as I was trying to get up. She's the best!

BTW, do you guys ever check out Tidewater's webcam? You have to refresh it yourself, bt it's pretty cool.

Have you guys noticed this isn't working right anymore? I might take a ride down there in a few minutes and ask them if they know it's not working.

Sounds to me like you are just looking for an excuse to get near the water! :p

Well, I guess it is not working because it is pitch black outside and the image is still during the day sometime. Unless they have awesome night vision on that camera! LOL!

If you guys are going out this weekend, have fun!

We went down to the Promenade Grill and had a milkshake, sitting on a bench looking at the water. We totally forgot to go to Tidewater to ask about the cam!

I'll head down later today.

We're going out on the water tomorrow!

We would be interested in the fall foliage cruise.
Of course it all depends on the schedule.
Oct 25 is our 23rd wedding anniversary and maybe be a wonderful way to spend it.

What a beautiful day! We cruised down to Still Pond, and cruised around down there for awhile.
VERY calm water, I wish we'd have gotten an earlier start, would have been a great day to take a longer trip, maybe to the bay bridge.

I used 7 $10 west marine rewards coupons and some cash for a new starting battery today.

The leaves are just staring on the shoreline of the bay. We are a lot further along with colors in Jarrettsville.

Do you think end of October would be too late to see the leaves?

Not at all, in fact, it would be optimal. I think it will be beautiful the 1st of November, and we will be out there, for the last time this season. :(

Just curious if anyone has made any final plans for the "Fall Foliage Cruise" that was being discussed.

I'm still interested as well. I have a few complications that have made it difficult for me to get out on the boat much this summer and with regards to a fall cruise there is no exception.
I'm pretty much screwed for the remainder of October, but the First of November looks pretty good to me. I think I may be able to convince lime4x4 to bring his Sea-Ray as well. My boat goes into winter storage the following weekend so this would be a last hurrah for me, otherwise I'm just going to go ahead and winterize.

I'd be interested in hitching a ride with one of you guys for Nov. 1 if that's happening. I haven't been out on the bay yet but would like to next year.

John - Let us know as soon as possible as I would love to get this set-up.

Although, I think that we will need more input from Arks and Supernova to set this up as they have more experience cruising the upper bay than I do.

Ezombee - I am sure that we can work something out between all the boats that are talking about going. We just need to get more of a final tally together first.

Lets make this happen guys! :D

Sorry for the delay- I've been extremely busy........
At this point I think 11/1 would work for me.
What about an alternate date in case the weather's not good?

I doubt there could be an alternate date because everyone seems to winterizing right after that. Might just be a once and done shot.

Alright, its done! The way I see it, somebody has to grab the bull by its horns and set some plans into concrete. The date will be 11/1 and I guess we better start hoping for a good day now as this seems to be the only option.

Not trying to step on anyone?s toes, but I am going to pick this up and go with it. I know everybody has a very busy schedule right now, so I will see what I can do.

Be on the look out for a new thread with more details; specific times, places and cruising route in the next day or so. Feel free to PM me with any questions and I will try to answer them.

Supernova & Arks - I will be sending you guys a PM soon with a couple of questions as you have more experience than I do. Hope this is not to presumptuous. ;) Your help is greatly appreciated! :)

Re: Boating the Upper Chesapeake

Talked to boss last night and she is good to go unless she would happen to get called into work or it would be too cold.
I will need some expert opinions on how to dress for the temperature. Also since I have never been down, I will need to know best place to put in.
