We are ALWAYS down for the Fourth. Sometimes by ourselves and sometimes with a veritable flotilla. That is a GREAT pic Stan!
I wish I knew you were around that weekend, I was out and about then. We'll meet next year hopefully.

That's o.k., we only did N.E. too. HdG was on Sunday night and I had work monday. We only got to c the northeast fireworks this year. Blew my lower unit the next day. We try to make it down for the 4th as well. We generally try to spend 3 to 4 days on the boat. Hopefully next year everything will be good with the boat.
I stand corrected. You guys did meet us up at N.E. for the Fourth and so Pam would not have been able to take those wonderful pictures on that day. It was indeed on the way down to Loyds Creek.Actualy Stan those pics were from The mouth of the Bohemia on are way to Loyd's creek
It's been a while since I was to the campgrounds, if I remember right, they are pretty far up above Georgetown. I was only there from the land side and I was young then, I'm not sure I even realized it was off of the Sassafrass. I don't think you will want to run that boat up there other than as an access point. It's about an hour's run to get to the Bay proper. And it's brackish water, not exactly fresh, but no jellyfish. Can anyone tell me anything about the Sassafras river near Indian Creek Campground?
Would it be worth it to use my 26' Scarab there? Am I legal with headers?
Am I wasting my time with a performance boat there, and do people head out to the Chessie from the Sassafras?
Looks like tubing can be done around there... and we have four kids and they like to tube and we have a place on the Sassafras. We just know nothing about the area (long story, but we have a place right on the river).
Guess it's all fresh water there? Wow, that'd be nice for a change!
My towing run to the Sassafras would be 35 mins. We eventually rack the boat in South Jersey, but want some late spring and early summer fun closer to home.
Could you mean Indian Acres? http://indianacres.net/Can anyone tell me anything about the Sassafras river near Indian Creek Campground?
For launching at their ramp- only near high tide. I took my 23 Nova there and could only get to their dock within an hour of high tide. The bottom is all soft mud. Once you're out of Dowdell Creek the depths are OK but there are lilypads lining both shores until you get past Mcgill Creek.Would it be worth it to use my 26' Scarab there? Am I legal with headers?
There are lots of performance boats in the upper Bay but this isn't one of their 'hang-outs'. The closest one is Lloyds Creek, off the Sassafras near Ordinary Point.Am I wasting my time with a performance boat there, and do people head out to the Chessie from the Sassafras?
On the Sassafras side of Knights Island (which BTW, isn't really an island) there's plenty of room for tubing, but the river can get busy so it's best to stay out of the channel.Looks like tubing can be done around there...
As SuperNova said, it's brackish- mostly fresh. In 25 years I've never detected any salt.Guess it's all fresh water there?
Like I said, it's been years since I was there and I went in from the land side. We took a boat out in the creek from the campgrounds ramp, but we didn't go far. My time estimate was based on where I thought the campgrounds were. I didn't even remember the name correctly; I knew it didn't sound right but couldn't figure out why. I did get the brackish part right though, and I definitely remember the lily pads. That's a whole other story, though.Could you mean Indian Acres? http://indianacres.net/
If so then yes. I considered buying there about 15 years ago. My answers will assume this is the place you're referring to.
Basically, it's the waters north and east of Knights Island on the north side of the Sassafras.
On a chart, it's actually called Back Creek, then Dowdell Creek. And it's not beyond Georgetown, BTW.

SuperNova said an hour to the Bay- well maybe for a sailboat, but for a speedboat it's more like 10- 15 minutes.

i feel the same way...if I can't pay in cash then either I don't need it or I wait til I can. Credit is a killer.Be in massive debt perhaps? I pay cash for everything, probably why I drive an 11 year old truck for daily transportation, and a 32 year old boat. I hate debt.
My trucks are newer, but my boat is an '86. Speaking of which, here's a couple of little pieces of info about my boat which you might find interesting, since you're familiar with the houses around Anchor. You know that little spanish villa looking place on the first point on the left as you're coming out of Anchor? It used to be owned by a man named George Braun....that's right as in "Braun Shavers". Guess who the original buyer was on my boat? Damn your good, that's right George Braun. My boat used to sit on the lift at the side of the pier at that little villa. It was purchased originally from Anchor Marine. I musta passed it and admired it a thousand times back in the late 80's and 90's. Never woulda thought one day I'd own it. Go figure. That house is right past Anchor and the Goose, sweet setup! I'd love to have something similar.![]()
