Yeah, they turned on the last week. The big ones turn on-off quick and I guess I picked the wrong time to go out. It was glassy and sunny when I was out :facepalm:

Lake Mead water temperature is 76 degrees Fahrenheit today! :) The temp was measured at Sentinal Island (far right).

Grand Canyon getting flooded to rebuild natural habitat and beaches.

AKA: Lake mead getting fuller :D (Any bit helps,,, right ?)

I read the article and they make it sound like this is a "new idea", flooding to restore the beaches.... They forgot to mention that this has been done this several times in the past. I spoke to a guy (can't remember for the life of me who/when/where) that said he saw one of the floodings and there were car sized boulders being swept down stream, and an errie sound of them smashing into things.

More water is always a good thing and a few more small mouth coming down the pipe won"t hurt either...I"ll just have to change my thinking of the spots I fish so I don"t hit any rocks...Have a great Thanks giving all....

I read about this in the LVRJ this morning. It's funny how different media sources have different stories. Some only use bits and insert opinion.

Water flush aimed at restoring ecosystem in Grand Canyon - News - ReviewJournal.com

We really need heavy western slope snow pack for several years. I am farely new to this wonder of Lake Mead boating, so I have only known it as low levels while on the water. Even so, what an awesome place to experience! ;) NO WHINERS- Happy Thangsgiving to you also and all of our friends here!

Thanks! And happy Thanksgiving to the Lake Mead crowd!

Looks like nice weather out there this weekend and probably the last chance to soak up some lake time before it turns cooooold. I'm hoping to get out there, no swimming though....

mz, the lake was really nice when she was full 10 years ago, not that it isn't nice now. A lot bigger and more things to explore, less reefs, just different. That's one of the reasons I got to Mohave more now than Mead. Well, that, and Mohave has more big stripers than Mead. :D

We will make it down there next year. Does Cottonwood Cove have a steep area at the launch?

The whole ramp at Cottonwood has a pretty good angle to it, should be OK for you rig, I'd think. It's been several years since I've been there though as they don't stock trout there anymore...

Where do you launch? Drove to Willow Beach 20 years ago just to see it and haven't been back. This is the Mojave River isn't it?:p

Mojave River.... LOL Most of the time I launch out out of Willow, probably been out of Cottonwood 20 times, shore launched out of Placer Cove a couple of times. Though.............. I wouldn't go shore launching your rig :D

Make sure to go in the summer (Labor Day>Memorial Day) so you can run up river above Willow Beach into Black Canyon, very cool up there. Cottonwood to Willow is a pretty good run, 30 miles or so. We usually hit up Cottonwood when we are camping, for the essentials like ice cream and such.

Will do. Is water depth ever a problem going upstream?

I have a customer who live in White Hills, AZ which is south of the T-Bar turn off on 93-95 "close" to TB and he never goes to Lake Mead. He has 2 boats and only does the Colorado. He thinks that both LM's are dirty.

There are a couple reefs and sand bars above Willow, but the water is clear enough to see them. As long as you don't fly up river blindly, you'll do OK. 2 places you have to ride close to shore to stay in the channel, one around MM56 and the other at Ringbolt rapids.

He thinks that both LM's are dirty.

Dirty as in fish poop, coyote poop, bacteria????

It would have been an excellent 4 day weekend to be out there. Calm and in the 70's. I can't ever plan to take advantage of the good weather.
