Re: GC trip
:D

I just checked the elevation forecast and unfortunately it doesn't look good:.....................................

For me: Memorial weekend 5/25-26 (1st) & 6/8-9 (2nd)

5/25-26 looks best for us. The 31st is my Daughters B'Day (In AZ).
But, it's a long drive from LA & if the water level is too low & we can't get into the Canyon we may pass this year.

Any date works for me, kind of dependant on work which I won't know the schedule for months.... (supposed to be ramping up too, which I don't mind)

Hopefully you will be off Memorial weekend, Dan.

Looking forward to heading out in a couple of weeks to start the annual winter work on our place in TBar. I'm going to continue the flooring in the downstairs bedroom. It has many nooks and crannys, so it will be a time-consuming project. I'll post some pics when it's done.

It was a little rough this morning below Echo Bay. Luckily for me I was going with the wind so no spray. I also luckily missed the fee booth on the way in Tues. It was open today. Great weather Tues and Wed. and chummed up some stripers pretty easily. They were quite skinny however.

FREEZE WARNING!!!! If you have an I/O boat sitting outside and haven't drained the engine/manifolds you better get to it as it's going to be freezing for the next couple of days here in Vegas. (I've had mine drained since the last cold snap in December ;))

BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES!

I had off work yesterday and was wrenching on the boat all day, it was nice and chilly with the wind. They forecasted it to start blowing around noon, but when I got out at 8am it was already ripping.

Good to hear the stripers wanted to play! I went through the Overton check station Wednesday around 10am and it was closed, weird that it was opened when you passed it coming out. (At least it looked closed with cones blocking the entrance as I buzzed by at 55.)

It's never too cold, just need more layers of clothing....

I came back from fishing at Willow Beach once and the dock was all iced over! (That's pretty cold for this desert rat.)

It's been freezing there! A few years ago there was a cold snap and we lost several engine blocks at TBar. I have an on board battery charger/maintainer that throws off just enough heat in the engine compartment to keep it above freezing, so I don't worry...well, not much anyway

Re: GC trip

I just checked the elevation forecast and unfortunately it doesn't look good:

MONTH FORECAST ELE
Jan 2013 1122.86
Feb 2013 1122.90
Mar 2013 1119.65
Apr 2013 1114.47
May 2013 1110.37
Jun 2013 1108.67

Obviously, it's just a forecast based on the crystal ball theory so there's still a possibility we could receive another 10-12' which would get us there.

We could go ahead and set a date to meet at Sandy Point so that even if the trip is a bust we can still get together and do an overnighter complete with a BBQ & campfire. The beaches there are plentiful, and if we plan it late May the water temp starts to get bearable without a suit.

Post what weekend would work best and we can go from there.

For me: Memorial weekend 5/25-26 (1st) & 6/8-9 (2nd)

three things have conspired to end my feb to march trip down there this year.......

furnace died on christmas. daughter set date to get married in june....... and its been to cold this winter so far to think about trailering down there. to be honest the furnace and wedding pretty much ate up my gas and slip budget for the year.

I had another idea, if any of us are out on the lake this yr and see any under water dangers that arent marked or a sunken boat or cool things, lets keep gps on us and give the positions of these things for us and all other lake mead boaters to beware of or to find.maybe even a find the lost treasure hunt amongst ourselfs here, each time one finds it it moves to the new location by the finder with clues. what you think?????

I like the idea of warning each other if we find dangerous conditions just under water...More than once I have just missed rocks just under the surface..
