Transom core is 1.5”. Ya it looks deceiving because of the angles on the sides.

Dez,

Aren't you using epoxy? I thought the advantage to epoxy was you didn't have to use cloth to waterproof the pieces, I thought you only have to use it for the tabbing.

I am using epoxy. Still need cloth for strength. Yes epoxy seals wood good but I guess I’m overdoing it maybe? I have enough materials to make it strong enough but not too heavy.

If I am going overboard, please let me know.

Thanks

I don't know much about the epoxy but I thought when I had asked and was debating epoxy vs poly it was explained to me that you need the glass in poly because it is not strong enough by itself and will crack. Epoxy on the other hand does not need the glass because it is strong enough with out it. I would guess you still need it for tabbing for the strength but i was just thinking you could save yourself some headache of fully wrapping in glass is not needed with epoxy.

I could be completely wrong, again I'm not working with epoxy but more curious myself.

I do believe I still need to be using cloth for my layups. Yes epoxy seals and does have strength on its own but cloth does make a huge difference. I will continue my cloth layups :)

Exactly my theory. Strong is good. Strong makes it ride quiet. Well that and alot of flotation foam in places it never was before.

Been a crazy week. Was sent out from for 4 days of training so no time to work out n the boat. Sunday I will be climbing back in and bedding the bulkhead and start planning my front section of stringers and hoping to get them at least cut and sealed. Also hope to pre plan/layout my chases. See how it goes. Going with rotary steering setup so that’s an easy pull through the tubing. Wire harnes is small so that will fit. Only concern so far is throttle and shift cables. Should go ok though. Will get more pics and progress posted Sunday night.

The fabric IS for added strength. CSM with Poly IS required as a binder. The Cloth/Fabric is for added strength in Both cases. Transom, Stringers, Motor mounts and Decks should all be Tabbed using fabric. Epoxy by itself is all that's needed for waterproofing. Bottom of deck and seat bases etc. only need straight epoxy.

that's kind of what I thought but to each there own. I was only question the full wrap of the stringers with epoxy and cloth but obviously it's going to be super strong now.

looking good Dez.

When using epoxy, I always recommend using two layers of 8oz fabric First one 1/2 way up the stringer and last one all the way to the top. No need to wrap over the top.
