Re: Circuit City BEWARE

Son got a high buck sound system for his car his mother paid for it before I knew from Best Buy and paid them to install it. when I removed it from the car later I saw a very half arse job had been done. they left out about half of the screws. Later went there 3 days before xmas to get wife an ipod.....They had nothing to sell me and after waiting 5 minutes for a clerk who was on the phone and she saw me waiting, she quickly hung it up turned her back and very quickly walked away with me hollering "miss" "miss". When I bought a tv there the jerk ran a fork lift through it and then brought it up to the front. I said "go get me another one and this time dont run the lift through it or the deals off" true morons. I will say CC at least had a full stock of ipods(same price) .

Re: Circuit City BEWARE

I would guess the prompt resolution had less to do with an Attorney General and more to do with the company not wanting to deal with some petty issue when they have more important things going on.
I don't think so in this case Pony.
He bought a computer from them and when he got home found they had charged him for two monitors, went back and BB insisted he had bought and taken two monitors. Lotsa back and forth, he called credit card company to stop payment, BB went to a collection agency. One call to AG's office, they sent letter to BB. Letter and phone call with apology soon followed.

Fwiw, I think any company is responsible for lackey employees.
They set the tone and do the training, bad apples should be fired.
When caught by surprise by a bad apple, a polite apology and rectifying the situation will almost always leave a happy customer.

Tasha, I hope you pursue this. It's the only way to get them and others to improve their service. I guess thats why its called Circus City

we would have never dealt with circuit city, if we weren't paying with gift cards.

Coors it was the New Store off Arglye Blvd, and Old Middleburg Rd.

Re: Circuit City BEWARE

I have a friend who had an alarm/remote start system installed by circuit city. Couple days later he gets pulled over by the cops because none of his signal lights work. He checked out the wiring later and I don't remember the exact details but suffice it to say it was really bad.

I think I read something somewhere about CC laying off a lot of their more senior employees to save money. These people were then invited to reapply for their jobs at reduced pay. Nice.

i'm afraid this is going to get nasty before it is over. they are now saying they will file a claim with there insurance company, and if the insurance appoves it, we will be reimbursed. my comment was your reimburse us, and you collect from your insurance. every thing seems to have been lies.

I actually prefer CC. I most often find better deals there. I never seem to get the lowest price at BB. In fact most of there stuff is higher in price.

As far as salespeople are concerned, I usually know what i want when I go in because I usually do a lot of research prior to buying. I usually don't rely on them for advice.

You can price match.....if CC has it in stock you can get that price at BB.

3 days before Christmas and they had no ipods.......shocking. Thats not even Best Buys fault. Thats an apple distribution issue.....or people just happened to be buying them at a higher rater there than at CC. How is this an argument against BB??

The Tv issue..........First off BB doesn't have fork lifts so more than likely it was damaged before it ever got to the store. Thie kids job is to bring you the TV and put it in your car. For all he knows you got a discounted price for that TV.....calling him a "jerk" or "true moron" is irresponsible to say the least. If you really worded it "go get me another one and this time dont run the lift through it or the deals off" I am not shocked that you would have had a bad expirience. There a certainly better ways of wording that.

You may be correct given the circumstance. I have been in that exact scenerio before. Best Buy puts a lot of money into Inventory Integrity for that reason. What I would have done is checked the stock count on the item to see if the physical inventory matched what the computer inventory was. IF what the customer is claiming is true, they wont match...........and you go from there and decide wether to return the item or not.

I will say this. It is tough to see bashing of a company I work for when I know first hand how much money they spend on training and the employees. It is astronomical compared to other retailers......

Re: Circuit City BEWARE

My wife went and selected a TV and told me to go pick it up. She didnt get the model I wanted so when I got to the store I told the clerk that I wanted another one (was cheaper) The clerk acted like it sorta made him mad that I was reducing the price we would pay but it was my money so I figured it should be no problem. Then the same clerk driving the forklift brought the cheaper model I wanted to the front with a big hole punched in the side from the fork. This is the kind of thing a moron would do so to me HE WAS A MORON. The clerk who saw me wait patiently to ask a question delibertly rushed away to avoid me. Only a jerk would do this so to me she WAS A JERK,,,,As far as being sold out of ipods, the newspaper had a big add posted that day pushing ipods. That makes thinking they do have them a reason to go to the store. Besides other stores had plenty to back up their adds so this reflects in a bad way on BB.............case made!

I quit using the big box stores(before they were called big box) years ago, being a small business owner I really enjoy the one on one service we get when buying product and using other small business's services and we also get great service and great deals, alot of times you are dealing with the owner of the company and they are always happy to see you and like in my business the customer is always right, and we don't have small print. That is my 2 cents

Re: Circuit City BEWARE

I would hesitate to label bad service from one experience in one store as a chain store issue.

Five years ago I had Best Buy install my truck stereo. I had to take it out later because I installed two more speakers in the back of the truck and needed to plug them into the back of the radio. The installation looked fine, wires in great shape, and they checked everything before my truck was allowed to leave the bay. Every light was turned on, brakes pushed, horn honked, and of course the radio was blasted. To this day that stereo works great.

Of course I stood right next to the guy doing the installation.....that might have had a reason behind why he did such a good job.

I have something against Circuit City because I got a job in the warehouse there 10 years ago. It was an awful place to work, employees were assholes, pay was low and then they were selling appliances. Unloading a damn 18 wheeler full of stuff every 2 days as the small person I am kicked my butt. I've never been so miserable at a job before in my life.

Based on how you are responding to my response, I highly doubt that you were "patiently waiting" for your TV. In retail you become a fine observer of body language. I'm sure you were you weren't exuding calmness and tranquility. Maybe that would cause a sales person to avoid you? I'm not saying that is right, but that doesn't make someone a jerk.

As I said before...........Best Buy DOES NOT use forklifts. I have been to every store in this state and a few in the surrounding states and I have yet to see a forklift. They have platforms the are similar, but there are no forks. No forks=No fork holes in your box= it happeneded somewhere else=it wasn't this "moron's" fault.

When you react/talk this way you do realize these are human beings....most of whom are still in school right? Maybe you caught them on a really bad day.....you just never know. No one is perfect. During the holidays new hires receive very little training and are highly stressed..........its not easy, cut em some slack. For all you know they just had a customer yell and swear at them for an hour about something that they cannot control..........it happens everyday.

Re: Circuit City BEWARE

Here is the bottom line:

Circuit City's price per share $ 4.71 (symbol CC)

Best Buy "" " $47.52 (symbol BBY)

They both sell the exact same stuff.

They both have many stores in convenient locations (sometimes right across the street from each other).

They both sell their stuff at the same prices (give or take).

It's not like Best Buy has been pulling a Walmart on them and cutting prices to the bone . . . far from it, Best Buy sells everything at "list price" for years, unless it's on sale.

So one does not have to be a rocket scientist based on their share prices to see that one of them has had awful management and awful customer service and unknowledgable sales staff!

Last time I went into CC (Albany NY) just before my laptop debacle with them . . . I tried to price a flat screen. Two clerks were goofing around together tossing a nurf ball back and forth and a 3rd was sitting on top of a speaker yakking on his cell phone. All three ignored me standing in front of a $4000 plasma.

Now that's just BAD MANAGEMENT!

But Hey! maybe they will turn it around like the Wiz did, or CompUSA, or Lechmere Sales or Tweeter . . . oops all those names are gone now, shall I keep going?

Sure, you might have had a good experience at one time or another, but you'd have to be crazy to give them any of your money at this point unless of course, it's during their liquidation sale :D

I was at one time a fork lift operator and I know what the hole looks like when you dont lower the forks low enough to go under the pallet. It WAS a fork lift hole going deep into my TV box high enough to maybe damage it and I didnt have to wait a minute before he brought it up from the back. Anyway the girl that ran off and avoided me was on the phone so I had to wait in silence several minutes . Only thing I said to her was a LOUD "MISS MISS "and she never even looked back. When I spend a thousand bucks at a store I dont want damaged property and I dont need rude clerks. Im a laid back guy. I agree that all stores arent the same. If you like that kind of service its ok with me.They are the ones that had an attitude.

I'm glad you're following up and not letting them push you around TD. Now it's time for a certified letter to their corp. offices... make sure it's sent certified though, makes corp offices think you are covering your bases because you intend to sue if they don't resolve it to your satisfaction, and lawsuits get expensive for them, FAST. Then if that doesn't get their attn. a letter from a lawyer (shouldn't cost much, and if you know any lawyers personally, I'm sure you could get one free).

I'm sorry that you got poor service. That type of service is not ok with me, and Best Buy as a whole doesn't stand for that.

I don't doubt your box had a fork hole in it, I see it all the time. They aren't used at the store level so the problem probably occurred before the box got to the store......I only brought that up because that hole isn't that clerks fault. He/She should have noticed it and then told you about it, asking if you would like to see the TV and take a discount on it or take a different box. They handled that poorly and the girl on the phone should have awknowleged you and then told you she would be with you when she finished on the phone. Assuming this was a store phone.......if it was a cell phone that is 100% WRONG. 95% of the time, there is a customer on the other end of that phone call...........some employees (unfortunately) don't know how to manage in store and phone customers at the same time.

Tash, any updates??

I would be willing to bet that the Manager has ZERO clue on anything to do with cars. He/She is probably getting info from the installer who is probably trying to save her butt.
