tengals 123 Its easier to install rubrail if you leave it in hot water for 15 min's or so, but still takes two to do a decent job ( like a lot of other great things :) )

Re: Cruise Craft Restoration

thanks guys. Unfortunatly heat was out of the question, because of where the boat is at the moment. There is no access to any sort of heating water supply. There is power, so I could have brought a kettle and bucket etc, but too much work. We were told a hair dryer would work abit, but didn't do anything to this tough stuff. What we really needed was a really hot day, where we could have left it sit in the sun for 1hr or 2.

cheers

Now that's looking like a real boat tengals. Looks just like it came from the factory with that new windshield. You might beat me into the water yet. :D

I'm curious about the rub rail. I can't make out how it affixes to the hull?

It ain't your living room Tengals. Use vinyl! :p

Sorry, you just got me in a ranting mood. ;)

ps, thanks for the diagram. I've never seen a lip like that before. Just the overlapping joints that have screws, bolts or rivets thru them.

I think that tengals should cut a door into his living room and park that jewel there. I restored a Mustang back in the mid 80's. I put so much time and effort into that I don't even want to drive it.

Re: Cruise Craft Restoration

thanks guys. While installing the fuel filler, I dropped a screw driver into the gunwale side. Of course it had to land tip down. Just a tiny chip, but, I've got to learn to to 'just let go, coz things like that are going to happen :)

*UPDATED PICTURES AVAILABLE*
Carpet almost finished. Re: Cruise Craft Restoration

I have made my first MISTAKE!!!!!
Help! help! help!

I went to go and install my teleflex helm today and since I have cut the deck and cut holes for the gauges it does not fit. If it's in it's original position the body of the helm unit will interfere with the gauges, if it is reversed, the body of the helm sticks all the way out the bottom of the dash. What am I goning to do?
:(
cheers

Re: Cruise Craft Restoration

That's unfortunate.... any chance that Teleflex offers a special order helm with a longer shaft that would allow you to clear the guages?

One thing is for sure, your creativity will enable you to come up with a solution. Perhaps move on to toher tasks, while pondering it.

I suspect a tiller handle wouldn't be acceptable ... lol

Re: Cruise Craft Restoration

Tengals, post a picture of the unit as it wants to be positioned under the dash. Is the conflict due to nothing being installed in the dash directly above the wheel originally? Does the unit want to attach to the underside of the dash where the guages are? And what kind of steering unit did you have before.

Re: Cruise Craft Restoration

AMD thanks for the kind words.

Boom, I will post a pic on saturday. Yes, my problem lies 2 fold, 1stly because there was nothing in the dash before, and 2ndly because the helm in the original position now hits the walkthru side wall/panel.
:(
In thinking if I move the helm and holes 20mm to the right and 10mm or so down, It will clear the walkthru wall, and should provide enough room for the gauges.. I hope.

cheers
