"This means I have for sale 3 hollowed out loafs of bread and half a dozen highly intoxicating oranges. Best offer secures."

Why not donate them to the Aussies and write them off of your taxes :D

My taxi is booked for 9.30am, I've got my food (2 packets salt n vinigar), the beer is in the fridge and will be put into the cool bag at 9.29am. ETA Edgbaston 9.50am, in my seat by 10.10am, first ball 10.30am.

My grin is a little bit bigger than this. :D :D

Bring it on Brits! Let's hope this one is a little closer than the last. :) BTW, is that idiot keeper of yours still in the side?

I am enjoying the TV coverage on SBS, much better than the rubbish that channel 9 puts on. At least we are not getting offered collectors bats, posters, balls, stumps and protective boxes.
I still listen to the ABC to get the full picture

Triton,

This one is going to be an England win :D :D

If by idiot wicket keeper you mean the fool who stands behind the stumps with all the gear on but can't catch the ball to save his life, then yes he is still in the team, lets just hope the bowlers can hit the timber and not find the edge.

I think that the England selectors wanted to make a game of it, and with the Aussie's history at Edgbaston they kept Jones in to give you a head start. (It's the only reason I can think of for him still being there  )

407 on the first day not bad, eh! off of only 75 overs :D granted it was on a flat wicket and without the bowling of McGrath, but it was Ponting's choice to let England bat first.

I wonder if RP got too pissed up to enjoy the game, that is if he got in with his bread basket :D

Re: Dunaruna, Kiwi Phil & Get Reel

Hi Honey I'm Home.

fantastic days cricket!!!!!!!!

Lets get the Glen McGrath bit out of the way, I saw him go over on the ball and also witnessed his scream of pain, very nasty!
The England supporter in me was happy not to have him playing but the cricket fan (by far the biggest part of me) was very pi$$ed off not to be able to see him bowl. IMO he is the best bowler in the world and this game would have been my last chance to watch him play test cricket. I wish him a full if not speedy recovery.

Main points of the day:

What was ponting doing putting England in.
Shain Warne's dropped catch.
Trescothick being caught off a "No Ball"
Trescothicks batting
Flintoffs batting
Pietersons batting
G Jones showing why he should not have been picked
Warnie having a go at the umpire re LBW
Harmison hooking Bret Lea for 6
S Jones hitting Gilchrist back over his head for 6
Warne being hit for 100 runs (the biggest cheer all day for an Aussie)

All in all I have had a great day at Edgbaston, a lot of beer has been drunk, a lot of songs sung and a lot of cheering England batting. I could go on and on about todays play but lets see what tomorrow brings.

The big question is: will 407 be enough for a first innings lead, its a good batting track and the England bowlers will have to be very good to limit the Aussies and take wickets tomorrow.

Well done boys
I realised that we were in trouble when the barmy army found voice just before lunch.
Sounded like a cup final at Wembley.

You would never get that sort of chant at an aussie rules match.

RP, I'd have given you the win if Mr G Jones wasn't still in the side. As he is, I won't. This is going to be a good one! It's Friday so tonight I'll give Ms T $50 to bugger off for the night, set up the esky beside my armchair, put the big TV on SBS and imagine I'm there. :D

BTW, this could be the perfect weekend. Forecast is for blue skies and 20 degrees with light winds for both days, so boating all day and cricket all night! Woohoo!

I hear that they have had some rain overnight in Edgbaston, that could liven the pitch up and give the Aussie openers something to think about.

What was Ponting thinking putting the Poms in?

Duna, $50 is plenty, she can pay for her own food and cabfare and I need the rest for the slab and the takeaway pizzas. Us boys have got to eat when the cricket's on! Can't wait to see Gilchrist tonk Harmison, Flintoff and Jones all over the ground :)
