Hey Td I don't know about camping on Disappearing Island. I'll put some thought into it.

As for island camping there is also camp sites in the Canaveral National Seashore park and you know I've posted on here before that we throw parties called Swampy Tonk across form marker 57 marina south of Ponce Inlet. All day live music with people camping on the island and a ferry back and forth to the marina. Skiing, fishing, playing, listening to good music- Swampy Tonk!

And of course there are lots of parties on Disappearing Island too.
(besides of course every holiday with the Burin' Smyrnin's on the stage)

I'll post them as they come up.

Kevin...Dude...ain't that a little too personal??...

My .02...really had a great time meeting with and hanging out with all the folks at the last get together. Don't think we will be camping at the next one, so gotta have a room nearby. We have all that at Lk. Griffin, but I kinda like to have a different venue..also gets us closer to some of the folks who can't travel far. I really like the East Coast thing..and from what I read, it would be good for someone who is closer geographically to feed us info for "your" site. Make us feel welcome to come to a new place. Good info so far, but Bob (Tashasdaddy) put lots of effort and time into our last event and would probably love to have someone else jump in and work on co-ordinating the next one.
Here's my proposal...if you have a site that meets our criteria, get us some specifics. Call the place, go by and take a few pics. Get some numbers together so we all have an idea what it will cost.
I will definitely do that for some sites around me..(Homosassa Spgs, Crystal River)..but that is kinda close to our last gathering. Let's talk, but I can assure you Bob can and will appreciate some help!!

here is my question? do we want to meet as close to the middle of the state, find one place and make it our meeting place? OR do we want to meet at different places around the State?

one year the NE, one year the SW, one year the NW, then the SE. doing this. no one will end up over the period of meetings, always having to drive long distances.

Depends on the haul distance fo me im up atthe south east sout caroline ga line i dont get but 12mpg on the tow vechile and 14 highway with nothing hooked on it and i got a heavy behind boat

OK, glad to hear, however, we are asking any and all to help us with a little insight into places near them. What part of Florida are you in? Do you have anything nearby you that might make a good retreat for us all in April?
Remember, folks, we are looking to kick this event up a month to have a little cooler weather as well as a few less bugs. The preliminary dates were April 23, 24, 25.

Again, Bob has hoped for a second gathering to be organized by the membership...and that means all of us!

Now, once the TR-3, wifes MG Midget, my boat, buddies Hydra sport, three charters, battery tender install are done, I may be able to free up a bit!....

Actually, hope to be on the road this weekend talking to some folks in Crystal River. I hope to start to post some pics and get some results posted as well...

If everyone chips in and if a few of ya'll want to be on a steering committee, that's great. I have support thru some PM's from some of you and will hope that others are soon to follow!

By the way..I will be contributing my two $50 gift certificates I did not use for the Nauticus Smart Tabs...so if others are able to start building a kitty of freebies just chime in. As for last year, Iboats went in really well with lots of support and we will surely have some support as well this year. As Bob mentioned, things are a little tight all over...Just remember, they would surely like to hear from us as we go about fixing our boats...

Eshaw, thanks for getting back...Yeah, it may be kinda hard for you to help us from up there! We did have Nolan Lain show up last year representing the Ga. coalition. He brought the wife, some grandkids and a really fine looking Sea Ray...I think we can get a few more of ya'll here if we don't go too far south..

About all we can do here is get on the puter and look at places and suggest, I have done some of that but we can't really know what is there without physically looking and talking to the places, which TD had already done when I suggested some and even though they looked good there were things wrong with them. We can still do that and then you local folks can check them out.

Yes I was there and it was a really nice weekend, those Fl folks are pretty good peoples. Rick even guided us out of the park to the lake when we first arrived which was really great.

That run was about 4 hours driving time with a stop for food the total trip was amost 5 hours. I would go a little further/longer but much more gets to be a long ride. I made a 7 hour trip to PCB a few years back and did not stop when I should have for food and then there was none on the route til I was almost there, that was a long day.

Lets see where the next one will be. I will try and look on the net some more and maybe make a suggestion for a place.

Yea the water is brown, brown brown. But it depends for me how long the ride is as i prob get 6-8 mpg with the tow vechicle with the boat behind it. And towing around 7 hours is a long drive. My pops and i are gonna prob try a trip to Va on labor day. Going to see my grandpa were gonna tow the boat with us since he lives on the water. See how that trip goes im gonna be tired and dont want to drive over 65 with the trailer on it.

But we will try to help the best way we can from here.

Look at the attached.
It is a 300 miles radious from LG.
Unless we found a State Park on a coast, or one of the Islands off the Gulf side...There may not be a more condusive site that's fair to all....

Simply put, not everybody's needs can be accomadated at any one location.
There are small drawbacks to LG..Mainly a place for swimming for the kids..and a jacuzzi for us old folks..lol. I suggested that the local hotel be used by anyone wanting to go swimming, as I will most likely stay in the hotel and pay a camp fee just to leave my boat at the dock in LG.

BUT LG did have many things that have been stated as necessary
Clean facilities w/showers
Covered Pic nic area with grills..(It was fun grillin w/ya Bard1)
Allows Pets...(thats how I got in)
Electric/water hook ups at the sites
Grocery stores/Walmart very close for any forgotten items (aka more beer)

Really to me the site is almost irrevelant,the opportunity to hang out and get to know my fellow iboater's is number 1...everything else is a distant 2nd..

Hey Kev, you best reinforce that soapbox, we don't want you to fall off.
LG really is a centrally located place and it is a nice place also. I would definitely go back there. There have been some other places mentioned that are nice as well, I like the state park idea, usually things are good there, safe, secure and just all around nice.

thats not to far of a drive form savannah. I, down with going there and yea dont step off that soap box. And i would love to meet some of yall some of yall sonund like pretty nice guys. I wouldnt mind that tow. And Lg if hear is a pretty nice place. One question Do they allow tent campimng???
