Re: Forum hostility
Re: Forum hostility
Up till last year, I owned a large Vbulletin board myself.... we had 250,000 members at the time we closed the site (closed it for legal reasons)
We had this video in our "forum rules" for newbies... not sure if it got posted here before - but some of you may get a chuckle out of it...

Those that haven't noticed the aggression, don't read all the threads (like the mods do) I know the work involved with skimming so many threads, and they truly depend on us the users to click on that "report thread" button sometimes to report things that they have not read yet....
Some people coem on here for help, and only come back, whenever they need help. Others, like us (who found this thread, for example) take the time to read, and contribute, and have likely seen some aggression at some point. It's human nature. The bigger the board gets, the worse it is. When my board was 10,000-30,000 members, it was one of the best of it's type..... as we got too big, the troublemakers decided to come have some fun, it was inevitable...
The site will probably need to learn to ignore the troublemakers, and keep the forums as informative, light, and fun as possible for the real members who read and appreciate the site.
