With that kind of control, have you ever thought of becoming an ice sculptor with one of those?;)

You have proven the old adage...where there is a will, there is a way...:D

Re: Glassmaster SIL project .

I think you will be happy you are leaving the windshield in, on one of my previous fishing boats, standard equipment was a garbage bag to avoid getting soaked on the way to the walleye hole. That boat was my first restoration, and it was nice, except it had no windshield. I made enough $$ on that restoration to get the project I'm currently working on. Your Transom looks as solid as factory, maybe even better. The snow is getting ready to fly up here in the north, my project is now stored for next spring. Time to break out the winter toys, guns, cross bows, and snowmobiles. Snowblowers are in good running order, truck is ready for another Michigan winter. Keep sending pictures here, us Yankee's need to see this stuff as we trudge through the winter months.

Re: Glassmaster SIL project .

hey sam. been following, finally commenting.
it actually looked like it did very well removing the old wood.
sure beats the hell outta grinding!
Welcome aboard ke5jro ! still got some grinding to do but the chainsaw worked rather well . Took about 15 min or so to get the wood out .
That is hardcore wood removal right there. Don't sneeze during that step. :D:laugh:
Yep no sudden moves for sure ! I did have to stop once however cuzz I either swallowed a bug or a wood chip . Not sure . Tried hacking it up but I think I swallowed it .. :twitch:

I think we may be in the wrong climate for ice sculpting down here GT.. I would not have any problem suggesting this method of wood removal to anyone who is comfortable with a chainsaw . The glass just feels different than the wood so you know when to ease up . A small electric saw would be perfect ..;)

Yeh we came to that conclusion the other morning going fishing in the MFG . It was a bit nippy heading out and it sure was nice tucking in under the full windshield ..

Well I guess it's official .. Chris is an honorary member of the backyard boat builders association .. He did more damage with the grinder than I did with the chainsaw ! LOL !

No biggie .. I have been down with a cold the last few days and was not able to supervise from the couch ..
On a good note my Jaguars finally won a game !! :clap2:
I don't want to discuss my Gators though .. :numbness:

And a big THANK YOU !! To all veterans who have served and are still serving our great nation !!! :usa2:

Re: Glassmaster SIL project .

When I was in the pool business years ago, I used a similar Deck Coating product. A pool deck is a Lot different than a boat. It is exposed to the elements all year round 24/7. Boats usually are not. Having said that, This stuff did not hold up for more than a couple of years in Oklahoma's Heat, Hail, Freeze, Rain cycles. Now that was on Concrete that can get to 150? in the summer in Okla. so take it for what it's worth. It does have great texture, but some customers said it was almost to much for bare feet and kids falling and skidding on it. So to answer your question...I think it would prolly hold up pretty well in a fishing boat and be a good anti skid surface.

Hey SP,

Checking in on the new project... I've been lurking around the MFG thread, and the smart tabs thread.... This reminds me of my Imperial project I let go... I'm sure with your skills this boat will be awesome!

Have a great weekend!

Thanks for dropping in Bear ! Yep this is gunna be a budget make over for sure . My SIL Chris was given this boat a few years back for installing a new roof on his uncles house . Of course he needed my tools and know how so I was volunteered to help out .
Did a bandaide rehab on it to go fishing so now it's getting what it needed to make it seaworthy .. I think it will do fine for what we need down here in the creeks and rivers . I try and stay out of the creeks with the MFG as much as possible but it has seen a little fish guts on the deck a time or two .. :joyous: Still working on the porpoising problems . Gunna get some transom wedges to get more down trim and see how that helps . So far the tabs have not completely fixed the problem .

Finally got a weekend off . Put cleaning the garage off for way to long ..

Now the old gal has some room to stretch !

Tomorrow I will break out the shovels ,rakes, and implements of destruction . Might even need some snake boots to go after this mess !

Hope everyone is having a great and productive weekend !

Re: Glassmaster SIL project .

Got this old Craftsman radial arm saw . Ya think it's worth doing rehab on it ? Everything seems to move and the motor runs fairly strong ..

Didn't get completely finished with cleaning the garage but I put a good dent in it .I still have some shelves and painting to do but it,s starting to resemble a nice hide out ..
Gotta run cable out so I can hook up the TV ! :joyous:

RAS saws are Great for cutting Long Stock down to the size you need and for other specialty work. The Sliding Miter Saws have almost made them Dinosaurs but I still like my old Craftsman.

What ..... That looks like a great place to hang out & work on a boat or 2 (3? IDK, maybe?)

Nice reorganization of the work space.
