Re: Glassmaster SIL project .

I still want to plan a trip to the keys .

Bring the clan and I'll throw some cold ones in the fridge and some hot stuff on the grill...oh and don't mind the fact that most of my house looks like boat restoration central...

Gotta work out my tow rig first . Hopefully that will happen in the near future .. Kinda torn on what to get . The Admiral want's an Explorer but I would rather have something with a V8 . A conversion van would be nice so we could camp in it . I have even considered a 3/4 ton pick up with a slide in bed camper . I know for sure when we head that way we would like to drop in and shoot the breeze with ya for a bit !

I am all about V-8 power...yeah, I know diesels are all the rage and some of the modern V-6's are just as powerful and maybe a little more efficient, but I am so set in my old school ways that a V-8 just feels good under my right foot...:D

Lot of good choices out there in the truck world, let me know if you need some "insider" info on any of them...;)

Re: Glassmaster SIL project .

The original guard does not completely cover the blade and people were getting hurt so they redesigned it ..

Carp ! They do not offer a replacement guard . But will send a 100 bucks to turn in the motor .. I will just have to be careful with it ..

I checked on mine and they didn't have the gaurd for it.. There is alot of exposed blade and you do need to watch where your hands or at all times, just like anyother tools.. I try to keep the front of the guard down as close to the wood as possible when cutting cross cuts and the same when ripping..

Thanks for the info on the recall..

Re: Glassmaster SIL project .

This is the most organized my tools have been in like forever . Finally installed some saved from the dumpster shelves that's been sitting around for a few years . Al Gore would be proud that I saved a few tree's .. Maybe he will give me his NPPrize !

Trying to decide how I want to set up the ras ..

More saved cabinets and tops . Nothing screwed together yet but I think it will work . I am guessing I should ditch the metal stand and set the ras on a permanent base . Do you think that laminated solid door would work as a good saw table ?

Re: Glassmaster SIL project .

I would make a separate base and make it so when you set your Chop Saw on the cabinet tops to the left the chop saw bed would be level with the RAS table top. That way if you have some long stock to cut you can use those cabinets and the chop saw to help feed the stock onto the RAS. Those Solid core doors make Excellent Saw Tables. I use em all the time. By the way I don't think my Shop has ever looked that good. I can only hope I can get it that clean someday. Great Job!!!!

That's a good idea Woody .. I was thinking that if the ras top was the same level as the counter to the left it would put the saw down to an uncomfortable height . Making it higher will give me a better look at what I am cutting and save the ol back from having to stoop down .;)

Typical Saw Table Height for comfort should be approximately 38-39" High.

Like Trooper said ^^^^ Want to come and do my garage.. That garage is looking great.. Job Well Done..

Making the RAS and Chopsaw the same hieght will work very nice.. Make sure if you mount the RAS on a permanet base that
you make the widest rip fence for the RAS the same as the Chopsaw fence.. Did that make any since..
Don't want to be ripping a long sheet of plywood and hit the Chopsaw..

Looks like you have a very nice Miller wirefeed welder of your own SP..

Have a great week..

Kinda sorta ...LOL ! The welder belongs to the company but I can use it whenever I need . We hardly ever use it at work so it's been in my garage for awhile .. Chris is pretty good at welding . Much better than me .
