Re: Got one! - 2008 SeaRay 205 Sport

Thanks, Do you mind if I ask how much? if its an inappropriate question I will understand. I did a bit of research myself and it appears the searay is quite comparable and maybe a bit of a better boat. The one I am looking at is a 217 seaswirl with a 5.0 merc MPI, no tower but a full bimini enclosure and trailer included.

I was hoping for 35,000 all in but the dealer is looking for 38,000 all in

Woodee
I dont mind the q. There are people on here with $100k plus boats. Mine is average in $.

Fully loaded. Included sirius sat radio, bimini top, all of the canvas for winter, magnetic drop in ski post, 5.0mpi 260 hp engine, premier stereo with subwoofer, I got the plan B seating (bench seat with sunpad), trailer with 2nd axle brakes, battery on/off, depth finder, snap in carpet and we ended up paying around $34k take home. I dont have the invoice in front of me but is was about that after everything.

Got one! - 2008 SeaRay 205 Sport

Hey guys,

Just read all the traffic above and its making me pretty excited to go check out this '08 205. I saw a few of the prices yall posted and did a bit of research as well and those look pretty standard. Anyways, my dealer called me today about a 2008 sea ray 205 - i havent seen it yet, im going tomorrow. asking $30k, but what is baffling me is that it is an '08 and said to be used. I checked out the website and it said "never been used" although its selling as "used." Have any of you come across this situation before? and what do you think about that price?

Trudy, One suggestion is a demo boat. Has some hours, thus used, but never sold - no title transfer. Happens with cars often.

I picked mine up just this past weekend. SeaRay makes a nice machine in the 205 sport, no question.

We're first time boat owners, so this year will be our "year of discovery". ;)
(Good AND Bad, I'm sure!)

Good Luck.

The Glastron 205 was selling for MORE than the Searay 205????? Now, is the Glastron GT their higher appointed boat and the Searay Sport their less luxury model for that size? Also, same power packages or at least same hp?

I guess i view Searay as a step UP in price from Glastron, based on tons of discussions on such things. Can't say I ever priced them though (down to the actual deal point vs. list price or whatever).

Anyways, that's a nice Searay you got there - stop worrying about the carbed engine, it will run just fine and the "hard to start" stuff is just a bunch of crap! The carbed version does give you a bit less HP, but you know that from the specs. Your boat/engine combo is just fine.

Yep - we couldn't make sense of it at first either. The SeaRay 205 Sport not only was cheaper, but had more appointments than what was included in the Glastron 205 show price. Both were equipped with a Merc 5.0L.

A couple of extra appointments on the SeaRay that were not on the Glastron:

1) Premium Stereo Upgrade (4 spkrs, amp, sub)
2) Compass
3) 2 Wakeboard Racks
4) Rear fully enclosed under-seat storage.

We couldn't find any appointments on the Glastron at the show that weren't already on the SeaRay, so it made our decision much easier.

Thats awesome man. I just got my first boat too, but you way outclass me. I got a 17' mid 80's rinker with a 1974 Johnson 135. Maybe my next boat will be an inboard. Oh well have a great time with it.

Your description just made me daydream for a few minutes sir!

I also just found out yesterday that the town ramp will be open 2 weeks earlier, so I may be doing this very soon! I am going to the local marina and picking up the wax and other cleaning agents, oil, and everything else I need this weekend. If the temps can stay above freezing for a while now, I may pull the boat out and start getting it ready a bit earlier.

Thanks for the cheering!

Awesome Shawn! Looks fantastic and ready to go!

I found the same as you...Sea Ray seemed to offer the best for the buck, especially for a boat that I see in the reports comes in the top 3 for every measurable specification. The dealer was incredible as well, which sealed the deal for us.

Damn wakeboard tower...we didnt get one due to not being able to get it into the garage with it on. As it is, I had to lift and hump the boat into the garage and jimmy it in. Took 45 minutes :-(

I got the drop in post though, which brings the height of rope up enough to do the tricks I want on the board. But it dont look as cool!

Super good luck..stay in touch with your experiences, and Ill do the same.
