The weight I used includes me in the boat and 26 gallons of fuel.

If I was gonna give you crap about something it would be your horrible judgment in never getting into Hockey!!

And I found the Manufacturers specs on my boat too! 4300 lbs at 310 hp equals 13.9lbs per HP!!!!

Alright buddy... I think it's time fer a new nickname fer ya... How does "BUSTED LIPP" sound??? Man, I had just finished replying and WE - GOT - SLAMMED!!!... and I mean SAALLLAAMMMED!!! We have been going at it here for 4 1/2hrs balls to the wall!!! Yes... female nurses too!!! I do not discriminate.
It finally calmed down now. Lipp, can we still be pals?... Even after all the mean and nasty things I was thinking about ya??? You know I'm kidding, of course... This really sucks... I can't use these new imoticons... They really, Really, REALLY suck.

PS: Actually, I was into hockey for a while. Street hockey on roller skates... Before inline skates were available. This was in Brooklyn. I was just in my early teens, but let me assure you, we were no joke. I've got a terriffic cousin who lives in New York, but has a lot of farmland and a really nice house in Ripon, Quebec. His oldest son and I used to ice skate on one of his ponds and he "schooled me" in some of the finer arts of hockey. He's 7 years older than I am. He was born in Canada, lived there most of his life, still does, again, in the same house.

PPS: Putting in yer .2lbs just wasn't enough, huh. Ya just hadda one-up me didn't ya???

Argh! I guess I will throw down some numbers here...2 adults, half tank o' 87 octane, 50 quart cooler full of ice, 2350 lbs/120hp=19.5 lbs per pony @ 4100 rpm...33 mph indicated, seat of pants=40 mph. Don't own a GPS...I'm too cool for new school.

I hope everything tonight worked out for the better and I am sorry I threw my sister in law under the........ bus......I'm not gonna do it, tempting but I am going to leave that one alone. Well thank the Good Lord you use 87 octane!!! 89 requires a whole 'nother formula... Holy crap, man, If ya used 92, it's even more complex... And lord forbid you're a super gas kinda guy at 108+ octane, WOW... we might never figure that one out without the help of NASA scientists!!!... Seriously, though, GPS's are a fantastic thing. They really are a pleasure to use... And this is coming from one who used to swear that a computer would never enter his house... Funny how things change, huh?

I suppose as with most technologies, even this shall come to pass, and I will eventually be saddled with a GPS device! I am not one of those fellows lucky (or financially blessed) enough to peruse the Great Lakes or venture onto coastal waters with my ancient bowrider, so I haven't been impressed with the need for outer space-based navigational abilities as yet. Heck, I don't have a ship-to-shore either! I just upgraded to a new (used) cell phone recently and it is 3 years old. All I can do is make phone calls and write text messages. Just upgraded my laptop too...it's 5 years old! Previous one was 10 years old! Tow vehicle 18 years old. Hey, maybe someone can further hijack/threadnap this post and wax poetic about those among us who have the OLDEST technology still in use? Anybody? :redface:

Well, I still own a rotary dial phone that I bought in 1976. I keep it because its neat. While not as old my current ride is a 1988 Dodge Ram Van conversion. My set of golf clubs is so old that the woods are actually wood. I just bought a new set so the old set will be going to my son.

I have a mantel clock that has been in my family since the 1840's. It still works, you know, the old gong, gong, gong clocks, tic tock, tic tock. That is the oldest technology I personally own.

Is that speed per GPS or speedometer? Sounds too slow to me. My boats 3000lbs dry. 205HP = 14.6lbs per horse. 1/2 tank of fuel and average load, I top out at 52-53 by GPS. By your avatar, your hull looks like it's designed more for speed than mine. With your weight/HP ratio, I'd think you'd be hitting close to 60mph, maybe even 61-62.
You might want to look into that. If something's robbing you of speed, it's probably robbing you of fuel efficiency, and possibly engine life. Do you keep your boat slipped in salt water? Maybe full of barnacles and sea-grapes?
Anyone else have any thoughts???

that is by our speedo. matter of factly we had it fixed just before our last trip out this year. my wife thought the boat seemed slower than it was all summer! we had just had it to the mechanic, because it had taken on a lot of water and bilge pump decided to quit working at that time. he checked everything out to make sure all was ok and fixed speedo, bilge pump, etc... to make a long story short when we took on all that water i think i bent the prop, but didn't notice until we winterized the boat. so that could be why it seemed slow, i also noticed a new vibration. we were told by someone who had known the prev. owner that he had been in the boat doing 63 mph. also; someone in the prop section said 60mph in this set up was virtually imposssible!

I'm no prop guru, but the size and pitch of the prop will determine your WOT rpms and speed. You must have supplied this person with all the necessarry info, prop size and pitch, length and weight of boat, hull type and deadrise, ect... But understand, also, speedometers are unreliable. Use a GPS to find out your true speed. Get your boat worked on before the season if you don't work on it yourself. If your not sure whether or not your prop is bent, you can easily figure that out with a tape measure or a piece of string or a dowel, stick or even a pencil. Measure from the rear of the prop to the outermost point of each blade. If the distance is the same, your props not bent. The vibration could be anything. Good luck, and keep us posted...
