Probably in the early stages the pipe was working loose and leaking. Then it all broke loose!

And yes, check your transom for rot... probably a lot there!

In the 3rd pictore this "hole", I put the water hose to it and it went right to the bilge area, looks like there is a cap missing? Sorry for my ignorance, as I said I didnt do the research that I should have prior to getting into boating.

That's where the bilge pump pumps water out it should never be capped as it should never be below the waterline.

The one in picture 4 not sure what that one is.

Im not sure what that one is either, it has one like that on both sides but putting a water hose to it water just comes back out, so not sure,

On the 3rd pic I never remember seeing that capped, I bet that along with the messed up livewell hoses, is what pulled me under,

That boat looks like it needs an enormous dose of TLC. Good Luck!

hey yes motor was always down while in water,,,I was able to lift it up b 4 pulling it in,,,

I didn't realize it was an outboard.
You seem to be very heavy in the stern.
Your answer indicates the engine does not have hydraulic Trim.
Moving the trim pin Down would lower the Bow.

Re: Hurricane deck boat sunk I need to know why, please help

wow what a mess. the holes in the sides near the rear. top one is biege pump, bottom one is live well over flow (its the larger one) if you put water in there it will go to the bilge as you have already proven that the live well pipes have fallen off so the water will drain out of the live well. right side rear hole should be live well drain. left side is the fill pump. as noted the right side looks wrong like the outside plastic has broken and thats sealing the transom so that may be a problem, the spashwell drain looks the same way which surgests that the transom got wet and swollen to the point it snapped the thru hull fittings. i would surgest removing all the hull fittings then stick ya fingers in the holes and see if you fell hard wood or mush. also see if the bottom bolts that hold the motor to the transom are loose as this will be a indicator that the transom is in poor shape.

it does have hydraulic trim its just not working right now Ive gotta get a motor for it..

Your original complaint was ....

... It would stand straight up when full throttle was on and wouldn't go anywhere very fast, slowly it would trim itself out and drive correctly...

The hydraulic trim is not just a cool convenience feature; It is used to trim the boat!

To start out, trim the motor all the way DOWN.
This will lift the stern, lower the bow and keep the boat from standing on it's tail and get you on plane quickly.
Once on plane; keep adding UP trim until the bow starts to show a tendency to bounce up and down. (Porpoise)
Lower the trim until it settles out.
Raising the trim makes the boat go faster; Up to a point.
Lowering the trim makes the boat ride smoother; Up to a point.
Every time the load in the boat changes (passengers change seats) a trim adjustment may be needed.

It sound like your hydraulic trim died in the up position.
An inch or two off makes a HUGE difference!

Others will likely agree; It is time for Boater's Education Course.

And after looking at the through transom fittings it looks to me like their broken and letting in water in among several other things.

A non function trim will make it very hard and long for a boat to plain.

OK here's what you need. you need an experienced boater--both in operations and maintenance of old boats--to goover everything with you. If you don't have any friends who qualify, hire one. Pay a boat mechanic to come out there; you will find things you will need to him to do I'm sure.
Know your own limitations; even the handiest guy can't fix everything and at some point, your whole boat, and the lives of its passengers, are at stake.

As you now see, boating is a combination of a hundred bits of knowledge. trying to get them one by one here. willy nilly, is not a good way to go. Now that you are getting specific in your descriptions, plus pictures, you are starting to get meaningful help, but there are a lot of gaps to fill in.

Hey, thanks for your opinion, I assure you I know how to operate the boat and the trim, I was trying to explain how heavy the boat was makeing it stand straight up, it had nothing to do with the position of the trim it was not stuck in the up position it was working fine , (after it sat is when the trim motor got stuck) I took the boat to a marina (mechanic) prior to it sinking where they told me it was good to go, It was obviouse to me the boat was sucking in water from somewhere, and after everyones help on this site Im sure I have found the problems!! I am haveing another marine mechanic help me determine if the transom is rotted out and if I should move forward.. I was able to learn alot about my vessel on this site , Even if I end up haveing to trash it and start over , thanks to everyone for all of your help and support..

Croc, do yourself a favor and don't use a second mechanic from the marina that said your boat was sound and had no issues.

Ask around with your fellow boaters for recommendations. It will be money well spent.

I absolutely agree I decided not to use that marina anymore, But I did get a guy to come by (different mechanic) and at least walk me throught the basics, He pretty much told me everything u guys have, We did take the broken connectors out and learned that the wood underneath is hard and not rotted out, so that brought some light on some things, so for right now were gonna work on getting the plumbing replaced with new connectors and seals all the way around and wait on the rest of my motor parts to come in and go from there, thanks again for all of your knowledge ill keep you posted as we progress,,
