yesterday, afternoon the intra coastal water way, at Jacksonville Beach, iced over. News showed kid in kayak sliding across the ice.

My folks are on the opposite coast and they spent the afternoon watching the manitees swarming the nearby powerplant for some warmer water.

Well this is gonna sound dumb, but I'm not from down there but isn't that salt water or at least brackish?
Either way pretty cold but at least you got warm weather on the way.

Lots of time in the crew boats we will come out of the inlets at night .When its freezing out its eerie to hear the ice braking under the boat.

Have you ever watched THE DEADLIEST CATCH on Discovery. They are fishing in the Bering Sea (salt water)They some times have to knock the ice of the boats railings to reduce the weight of the boat so it doesn't sink.

In Michigan it's not been above freezing since the middle of November and Last summer was the coldest summer on record. And the Polticians want us to swallow GLOBAL WARMING! HA!

You need to be very careful when you go out on that ice.
Thats where the polar bears live.

Did storm clean up a couple of years ago on vancouver island, and had to go to a bunch of the smaller islands, should of hired an icebreaker.

I've done the same thing in the N. Atlantic. The major issue with icing of the vessel's topside structures, is that the boat becomes top heavy. That creates a danger of rolling over.

Yes I have, and I am aware that arctic salt water often freezes. My surprise was that this would happen in Florida.

Salt water does freeze. I am surround by it and it freezes every winter.
