Re: Magnumdekes 1976 22' Starcraft Islander

Well it is Sunday and I decided to get some rest and gave up for the day! Me and my faithful companion did get primer on the inside of hull and I got my kicker plate fabbed up.
Winnie (winchester deke) magnum deke was my old black lab that passed two years ago
100_1118.jpg

primer I used, It mixes 1 to 1, used 1 gallon of sprayable mix, still have 1 gallon for exterior
100_1123.jpg

I had to paint in our wash bay because there is 40k$ worth of teak in my paint bay right now

Primer on

Ah just to let you all know, I have a temporary delay of game due to stupidity. Last friday I managed to hit my head hard enough to give myself a severe concussion:facepalm: Fought through it until Tuesday, went to the doc cause I found myself doing unusually dumb things and he put me on the bench for a while. So if I cant work kinda hard to justify working on the boat! Found out my head is not as hard as previously thought! Oh well hopefully the headache goes away soon!

Now trying to convince everyone else you're not hard headed. That's the battle.

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.

Great thread. Hope you are feeling better soon so the work can continue.
I gave myself a concussion years ago. And it took and entire winter until I felt normal.

Well I made some more progress on the Out board bracket / swim platform.
Added support for the kicker bracket and the future swim ladder, two pieces of 2x2" tube
100_1244.jpg

Had to notch the piece for the swim ladder backer, weld in the way
100_1243.jpg

Added a drain tube and cut out for a deck plate

Plugged up

Stole a little of my thunder with that last picture, moved on to final grind out for paint prep,
Following pics are different grinding wheels used to complete this
Coarse
100_1257.jpg

40 grit sanding disc, also used an 80 grit
100_1255.jpg

Than a hook and loop backer, pad combo, similar to scotch brite, used this red (medium) and a blue (fine)
100_1238.jpg

Can see how it cleaned up
100_1239.jpg

And then went to the ol Aluminum eater
100_1278.jpg

rinsed off out side drying, also rubbed down with 50/50 vinegar/water
100_1287.jpg

I also drilled 25 mounting holes in it, ready for primer

Re: Magnumdekes 1976 22' Starcraft Islander

So not much more, coat of SEM primer and some high build
100_1305.jpg

100_1308.jpg

Also got some primer on the transom we redone, want to get color on the mating surfaces for the bracket and transom and get this thing mounted. Not there yet.
100_1306.jpg

100_1307.jpg

In between coats we took a grey scotchbrite pad and warm water and scuffed layers, knocking they high sides down, and wiped with acetone, My son was working in the hull doing the same.
100_1279.jpg

Made up a dribble can of acetone we can fill from a big can, less evaporation

Also got some of this

in here
100_1309.jpg

All this was on Saturday, today Logan scrubbed the inside of hull and prepped for another coat of white, maybe spray again this weekend. Want to dry fit and drill all bolt holes for transom and bracket also. Little by little.

Wow. You can plan a marine assault with that baby. Lots of room you've got there.

Beautiful work man. She looks battleship sturdy.
