Re: Man vs. Boat (season 1).

I'm with you on the moving the boat so you can work on it at the house also Patrick. Mine is about 20 mins away a family members house... Simply no way I could store it here. But it seems like everytime I get to work I realize I forgot some tool that I really needed at home! Drove all the way over there once to dewinterize the boat.. Only to realize I left the battery sitting at the house! It gets better though man don't worry.. Your doing great and like someone else said... It's better to take everything slow and know its done right rather than throw it all together and hope its right!

Yeah, Marada, A couple of more steps before I can bring the boat home. My plan is to get through decking, foam and paint out at the shop. then I will bring it home for final touches... Should become a little more productive at that point.

Just checking in PMC. You get the stringers cut to height yet?

Not quite, yet, Troop... Although its not in the video below, I have starting tabbing in the stringers. I've got 3 or 4 compartments done. Hopefully, I'll get out there this afternoon for some more progress.

It took a few days but i read through the whole thread.Great thread and I hope everything is still going good for you with the stringers.

Brenn, glad to have you on board. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the thread... The adventure continues, slowly, but surely.. (and expensively)...

Yah, what the heck is going on around here!

Moving slow, my friend, these glass boats are a cruel mistress...

Hope everyone is well... Recent video footage is below.

If only there was some sort of alternative? I've heard about these metal type boats, no dentist tools needed for rebuilding:D

Yeah, if only... You, see, I've got this buddy up in Michigan (Midland area, actually) that has bought like 140 boats made of that metal type stuff... He buys, sells, and trades them (even half finished ones), but scolds me anytime I get near craigslist (something about needing to complete my first project before looking for something else)... Sort of hypocritical, but he's a fairly nice guy, so I roll with it... :D

All kidding aside, I love my boat! I'm going to finish it; I am going to enjoy it! Just because its hard doesn't mean its not worthy...

Yeah, ya don't see any glassers walking around w/ a grinder wounded wing now do ya:eek:

Like Coke & Pepsi, everybody has a preference. Some drink both:facepalm:.

Then of course there's the RC Cola or Ale 8 One crowds:

I'd like to 1 day hang w/ them too:D

Stringers & PB plus prep for tabbing all looks great! Keep it up, you'll be moving it to the PMC homestead soon enough..........

Ooh, now the classic woodies I think we can all agree on... You just posted my dream boat...

I actually like 'em all... Jas knows I'm just messin with him in good fun (I hope)...

Good work, Troop and S.P. - been following along (Troop, don't sweat that gas tank too much - it will be sub-deck and you probably got enough of the primer on it to make the protective paint stick)... S.P. your MFG paint job is looking killer... JBC, I am about to go check out your threads and see what you have bought lately... P.S. Since Gus is out for a spell, maybe we should meet up over on his thread and wreck the place... I think he has some ammo laying around in his garage that could be fun... Or, Jas is logged off for the night, we could cause some trouble over there too...

Yeah, w/ a bit more talent, lots more room & tons of power tools, oh & a pile of cash, I'd love to build a Glen-L boat:)

Don't be worried about checking on progress.... Severely lacking & wanton of progress:facepalm: Working blues...........

But a boat work Stay-cation starts Tues:D

You are definitely getting closer to that magical day...stringers and bulkheads are looking good...gonna be "tank" strong! Speaking of tank...figure out the dimensions/capacity , yet?

I was just sitting there minding my own business when this popped up:

So I was sitting & thinking (same areas were involved in both activities, so it worked out to be a well rounded workout) how much I really like red, black & white CC's;) and thought I'd post some motivation for you here. And of course ask what color you were planning to paint her once you're too that point. <<<Is that still mid-July?

I actually like the blue on your's originally too:

I'm sorry, I didn't know you were one of Those kinds of a lawyer ~ jetting about, fishing in fair off remote locations (<<that may be a slight exaggeration of the truth:p).

Fly fishing for trout? In Montana? A yeah, that'd be cool! Like the FireFlite for me, the CC will be there when you get the time to work on her. Travel safe.

.

Now, JBC, you know me better than that... Other than the All-Star scenery (which is free), there was nothing first class about this trip... No fancy lodges, no fishing guides, etc....just a a group of 4 college buddies crashing at the house of one our friends... (put it this way, I slept on a couch the whole time.. and didn't even get as much as a mint on my pillow)... In all seriousness, I wouldn't have had it any other way... We've been fortunate to do this trip for several years now, and its really blessing to be able to get out there and experience that part of the country for the cost of a plane ticket and some groceries... And we managed to catch a few fish:

Yes, It was fun... I have my batteries charged up nice and good, and I am ready to get back to it...

Sorry that this thread takes diversions from time to time away from hard core boat building stuff...

Re: Man vs. Boat (season 1).

Who's sig line is it: Time spent fishing is not counted towards a man's allotted time span on earth? << or there abouts. So fishing & roughing it on a couch for a week sounds good to me! Trying to arrange an evening fishing w/ the Admiral this week/weekend.... But looks like it might have to be a solo.....
