Re: Man vs. Boat (season 1).
I like the cutout for the trash can on the fiberglass table. I did that in the back of my bar and I usually fill it with ice for drinks, lol
....Good work, keep it coming!
It helps to use a router to round teh edges and 1708 will round over that very easily.
Thanks Zak - even better idea on the bar. I thought about a router - but don't have one, so I just used by grinder with a 40 grit pad to round them off a bit.... Always wanted one and always looking for an excuse to add a new tool to my small (but growing) inventory, so I'll pick one up.
I have nothing overly helpful to contribute but...
1. Man, I bet it feels good to be done grinding and on to actually rebuilding stuff!
2. I've been thinking about growing out my beard too. My wife hates it though, how'd you get a way with it?
Yes, it does feel good although I found a breach in the fiberglass up under the glove box console towards the bow - looks like a hard collision with a dock - no wonder the front part of my boat up by the gas tank was so wet and rotten.... So, that will have to be ground and patched...
Tell Jen (that's her name right?) that Courtney sends one official yard pass and one beard pass from Mississippi.... Consider it a Christmas gift from down south - tell her she has to honor a present given to by some other dude's wife down in MS and see how that goes over;

In all seriousness, I think she feels sorry for me given that I am little challenged up top (it's either turning grey or turning loose), so in her deluded sense of compassion, she actually seems to like it... Plus, how's a guy supposed to survive these frigid MS winters without a beard (I mean, it's going to get down to 50 tonight).
Ok a couple issues I see here.......you secretly want to be an architect don't you....I can tell from how you laid out the measurements on your cutting board

Only someone with a sick twisted mind like ours would do something like that....I bet you line everything up nice and square, checking the dimensions carefully don't you?
Secondly, that hole in your transom looks like Jaws took a bite out of it!
Nice job, keep up the great work!
It's funny you mention that...my parents actually wanted me to go into architecture, and if I had any other career, it would probably have been that... However, it was a shorter walk from the fraternity house to the liberal arts building and the classes were way easier... So, hence, worthless major, have to go to law school route...
Yes, OMC had their factory shark take a huge bite out of my boat's "as*"
Great videos & congrats on beginning the PUT BACK!
1 question is it the love of the sanding & initial resin application or the the soundtrack that makes you work so stinking fast? At that pace, by xmas, you could be installed & done w/ transom! And deep into stringers by New Years!
Maybe I can send Jasoutside an MP3......
Good job! Got a good looking crew, how'd ya convince someone else to crawl under the lifted boat & change a castor???
Thanks JBC - I have to hide the flaws in my work by putting the film on high speed - that's actually 4X. That fella changing the castor is my cousin... He's always willing to lend a hand... and has no fear, so it works out great...
I drove out to the shop tonight just to check on the work. The transom glassing was a success...It cured nicely with no air pockets.... So, I was pretty juiced that my first lay-up (albeit a very small one on a flat surface) turned out pretty good.
Have a good one fellas and thanks for watching and chiming in with the words of support. It really does help!!
