Very Cool! Glad you had a super time recharging the 'ol Lead-acid Storage units...

And nice catch, like Trooper said, that smile says it all...

Welcome back!

Re: Man vs. Boat (season 1).

Just finished reading the thread......good reading:)

I'm about to start my '72 Chris Craft Lancer 19, and was searching for photo's under the deck to compare.

Apparently they were built much different in 1972. My stringers are 6" wide fiberglass, no core, but there appears to be wood back where the engine mounts are. I also noticed my trasom only has wood glassed in from the inside, starting at the keel and going just about an inch about where the Volvo 270 bolts on. Looks like an easy enough job.

The only wood under the deck appears to be some cross braces to support the deck itself. Bare wood, but not glassed to the top of the stringers at all. The deck is glassed to the sides of the hull, the 'bracing/supports' seem to be att5ached by screws to each other, and the deck screwed down. Can't be original I would think, although this boat has less than 100 hrs total on it. Just getting some dry rot around the edge of the ski locker....I'll strip out the interior.

Robert, thanks for stopping by... Glad to have you on board and excited to see another disco-era Lancer 19. I love my boat, and look forward to following along with your progress and maybe kicking some ideas back and forth.

Yeah, it is definitely a blessing to get to go on that trip...

Yes, BSnB - I freaking love fly fishing (especially for trout) - sort of an odd passion for someone that lives in MS, where no trout live. However, I have learned that trout don't live in ugly places and I will gladly travel to fight them on their home turf.

hey isnt this the time when we get the weekly update?

Brenn: Yes, ordinarily that is the case. However, if you notice the chatter above about me disappearing with my college bodies to go fishing for week, I sort of needed to spend some Q.T. with the family this weekend.... I'll get back out there again shortly (maybe even tomorrow), but needed to build up some goodwill with the admiral before I asked for a boatwork yardpass.

Have a good one fellas... Appreciate you guys following along and helping out.

You know PMC, of all the fishing i have done the one thing i have always wanted to learn how to do has been to learn how to fly fish. I am glad to say that this past father's day my kids gave me lessons that i still have not used YET, but will be soon. the best part is that about 5 mins away at the bottom of the dam at lake lanier where you took her out for your first test drive, is an excellent trout fishing spot that you can only fly fish. I am looking forward to being able to do so, but the start up gear for the sport is absolutely not jas bottom feeder friendly............

I got into fly fishing for a short stint, great rod(s), waders, vest, yada, yada...

I put a few $5 flys into the trees. Wow, this gets expensive quick!

I figured I'd save cash, learned to tie flys, went out to buy all the fly tie gear - wow, this gets expensive quick!!

Yah, I gave up on the fly fishing deal.

I can actually remember my gut hurting when I wrapped that $5 fly in the tree on the second cast - that was like 10 years ago.

Re: Man vs. Boat (season 1).

A couple of years ago I hired a Guide to Fly Fish for Smallmouth Bass on a local Limestone River near me. Waded into the water where he suggested and set-up to cast to a spot he pointed out. I peeled some line off the reel and proceeded to hang my first backcast 20 feet up in a Cottonwood tree. Embarrassed, I looked over at the Guide who shook his head, looked up in the tree and said..."if they were up there we could just pick 'em"...

BSnB - that's pretty funny ^^^ I'll have to remember that one..

O.K. Quick and dirty update just to prove that I actually have been working some:

I've got the engine box and the 4 aft-most bulkhead compartments tabbed in with CSM and 1708. I'm about 60% done with tabbing:

Here's a quick pic:

stringerbulkheadtabbing.jpg

And a quick video of me (angle wasn't the best) tabbing some CSM to a little kid rock and his shout out to my hometown (black and white to match the mood music):

Glad to hear you are actually doing something to the boat...however, to really enjoy the video you posted, you must change it from private to public...

Happy Friday!

Oops - it set it to private by default for some reason - just changed it... You must be one of the 39 or 40 people that actually watch them....

Thanks Wood, but you are sand-baggin - One club you will never be in is the slacker club; Plus, I saw where you did some rehab to the BF and have her all nice and pretty again.... Can't wait till you can get out and enjoy her....

Man,

Nice work....

Thank you, I wish I had Jas's puma-like speed and quickness; I just rely on 4X camera speed to make me look fast (and to make it a little less drawn out/boring)... Tabbing is not exactly the most fun thing to watch...(or do for that matter)... Sort like wall-papering in tight corners - oh, the joy...

Oh man, I think I need to get some Kid Rock going and get some more work done:)

Yeah, glad you popped in (were you looking for your man-card that you lost this afternoon?)... Just kidding, buddy... Now, get back to work and turn up the K.R. - its good for the soul (and productivity)...

Thanks Troop, see above.. You know the pain; I'm just jealous that you have moved past this fun stage...

Yes, I am and thank you...for both the video and kid...I dig 'em both...

Glad to have you on board, Gus!!!
