I now have finally completed my deck! And I love it. I used the storm gray Nautilax vinyl. Thanks to all who recommends this product!

Oh, believe you me... There has been more than just the one beer pictured, consumed in this deal! I finally am able to get the Ob on....not running yet, but its on. My make-shift motor stand wasn't the sturdiest so decided to finish the rest of troubleshooting on the boat.

Well...its been a while. I finally got the boat out of my storage shed to start working on her again! I have decided to take in to a reputable marine mechanic because I just can't get her running. I got the call yesterday with some very disturbing news. He is telling me she has a scored cylinder, with a leaking c.case... When I purchased this Johnson 90, I checked compression with all cylindersin the 95-100 range. He is saying 1 cyl is low and not worth rebuilding. I'm at a loss. I've got over a grand in this motor with new parts. Bummer

Well I found a 1993 Evinrude 60 that has just been rebuilt with a year warranty. DO you men think its too small for this 18'? I'm mainly going to fish but might have to pull the better half skiing a time or two... What ya think?

I think the 60 is just marginal for pulling a skier..70-75 min, 90 to 120 best! Shes rated for up to 140, btw

i'm with Kev. 60 is way too small for an 18' hull. it would be one matter if you were looking at an otherwise-nice boat that came with a 60hp but no way i'd buy one when there's plenty of other motors out there. even if you feel the mech is reputable, maybe re-run your compression testing unless you've personally seen the scored cylinder?

Thanks Kev and barato! I totally agree. After further consideration and discussion, I plan on rebuilding this 90. It will give me some time to get the interior finished.
